move/resize any window causes Defense+ alert balloon

running Comodo Firewall (5.0.163652.1142) under Windows 7/64 bit. Whenever I move or resize any window on the desktop, a defense+ alert balloon pops up. Every day the alert message is different. Yesterday 2 balloons popped up (attached). Today the message of the day references deploy.jar
This behaviour doesn’t change by choosing either allow>remember or block>remember. A huge pain.
I reported the same problem with Firewall 3.14.130099.587 back in May (raised a support ticket) but got no fix. Between May and now, the problem has often just disappeared for weeks. But with the Firewall update yesterday, it’s back. Grrr
Other system info:

  • Firefox 3.6.10
  • dual monitors on nVidia Quadro FX 4600
  • Windows updates - all current critical updates installed

cheers guys, Kirk

We would very much appreciate it if you would edit your first post to create an issue report in line with the bug forum guidelines and format here. You can copy and paste the format from this topic.

To understand the reasons why we ask you to follow these guidelines please see below.

WHY WE ASK YOU TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES
Bugs/issues can be impossible or very time consuming to fix if developers don’t have enough information to reproduce them. Since CIS is free, development time is limited. So if you want your issue fixed, please use the format below to describe it.

To avoid clutter, issues not described in the format below your post will not be moved to the ‘moderator verified’ issues topic. This means that the developers may not look at it.

Best wishes and many thanks in anticipation

ok here goes again - I submitted a properly formatted bug report 10 minutes ago but your system killed it cos it had an unsupported file format attached. Why the hell did the entire post get killed - a simple return to the unsubmitted post (& a request to change the attached file format) would be much more elegant…

TOPIC TITLE
move/resize any window causes Defense+ alert balloon

The bug/issue

  1. What you did:
running Comodo Firewall (5.0.163652.1142) under Windows 7/64 bit. Whenever I move or resize any window on the desktop, a defense+ alert balloon pops up. This only occurs after a ‘true’ Defense+ alert has occurred in response to e.g. first startup of newly installed application. The alert balloon/s that keeps appearing with window resizes/moves is the balloon/s that appeared with the ‘true’ alert/s
Grrr

  2. What actually happened or you actually saw:
    see 1. above

  3. What you expected to happen or see:
    no ■■■■ balloon

  4. How you tried to fix it & what happened:
    a. ticked allow/remember on alert - no change
    b. ticked block/remember on balloon - no change
    c. reinstalled Comodo Firewall - no change
    d. exit then restart Comodo - problem goes away (until next ‘true’ Defense+ Alert occurs)

  5. If its an application compatibility problem have you tried the application fixes?:
    n/a

  6. Details (exact version) of any application involved with download link:
    n/a

  7. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen:
This only occurs after a ‘true’ Defense+ alert has occurred in response to e.g. on first startup of newly installed application. The alert balloon/s that keeps appearing with window resizes/moves is the balloon/s that appeared with the ‘true’ alert/s

  8. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons):
    ??

Files appended

  1. Screenshots illustrating the bug:

  3. Have you imported a config from a previous version of CIS, if so have U tried a preset config?:

  4. Defense+ and Sandbox OR Firewall security level:
defensePlus = Firewall = ‘safe mode’
    Sandbox = not enabled ever

Thanks very much for doing this report in standard format. This is one of those bugs where we will need to give devs the max information pssible.

Please could you confirm the in your answers to Setup 2 & 3 you mean: No, N/A as your answer is a bit ambiguous.

Please could you append a screenshot of your D+ event logs for a period during which these baloons occured and the reboot immeditely preceding, and your active processes list for the same period.

Best wishes

PM sent

Unfortunately we do need this issue to have all the information we have asked for, if we are to forward it to verified issues.

For the moment I am going to move it to the Orphaned/Resolved child board. If you do manage add the requested information, and PM an active mod, we will of course consider moving it to verified reports.

The devs only look at the Orphaned/Resolved board if they have time, so please do add the information and PM an active mod if you want it fixed.

Best wishes and many thanks in anticipation
