Can someone please help me? I’m desperate. CIS didn’t start, so i tried to uninstall it and reinstall it again. Used the add/removal tool from windows and it doesn’t show up anymore. Now i tried to reinstall it and when i’m doing so it appears a message saying i have to remove the previous version of the firewall and i simply don’t know how to do it. Can someone give me some advice? I am a bit noob in these things so i don’t really know where to go next. Thank you in advance
Follow the steps carefully in the very first post on this thread
I’ve done it and it gives me the same message when i’m trying to reinstall CIS.
What OS, version are you running?
Windows 8.1 64bits
Have you rebooted after uninstalling?
1.Right click and run as administrator this removal tool after downloading and extracting from zip folder.
2.Choose option to remove CIS.
3.Reboot when it finishes.
4.Run this windows installer tool from Microsoft and check programs and features to see if CIS is listed and choose to uninstall from there.
5.Reboot
6.Try to install CIS using installer available from the release topic.
Weirdest thing happened. The wifi connection crashed too so i restored the system. (Did it today before to see if it could help solve the situation but didn’t work out). So now i restored the system, CIS is still installed. Tried to run a scan but it just cancelled by itself. ???
Restoring your system created a new situation. Please try the steps by Futuretech again.
Now that you are running from a restore I would uninstall normally from control panel and then do the previous mentioned steps.
Greetings!
I had to uninstall CIS10 due to various issues it caused with a certain program. Thought that if i clean out everything, then reinstall it, the issues will disappear.
But after being unable to uninstall it, i have done every step as said in the opening post. It did work with another older installation of CIS on another computer, but wont work now. I keep getting 1603 errors all the time.
Tried safe mode too, no go. Reg clean, permission restore, everything.
Anyone got the foggiest idea what method could help me?
Thanks in advance!
Correspondence on fixing the recent update seems to be never ending …
Is the following the consensus of what is the best action to take?
1.Right click and run as administrator this removal tool after downloading and extracting from zip folder.
2.Choose option to remove CIS.
3.Reboot when it finishes.
4.Run this windows installer tool from Microsoft and check programs and features to see if CIS is listed and choose to uninstall from there.
5.Reboot
6.Try to install CIS using installer available from the release topic.
Then reboot
I’m guessing that I can just find and download the latest version from the Comodo web site.
Alternatively I seem to be running 10.0.1.6209 apparently without problems (though there seems to be something wrong with the interface which I would not normally use much). Any reason why I should not just continue like this and save myself the hassles which other forum members have reported?
Just coming back to this post after giving up back when i first posted with probs trying to get comodo firewall working on win10, i’ve now seen your reply(thanks) and looked at the .bat file link you provided, before i use it i’d just like to know a little more about what the bat file is doing as i notice in steps 5 it does a system restore so wondering what is being restored here(is this taking the system back to an earlier date?) then in steps 6+7 windows installer is being started(is this windows own program/app unistaller or actually windows OS installer) then geek buddy starting in step 8, i thought the file was getting rid of all Comodo stuff and i never wanted geek buddy on my PC so wondered why geek buddy would be starting and why it needs to be started in safe mode with networking(whats the internet access for)?
i only want to install comodofirewall, any chance you could explain a little more what steps 5-8 in the bat file are doing.
Thanks
That’s only if after normally uninstalling and you try to install a newer version and it gives you an error saying to uninstall older version first. You shouldn’t need to do anything other than uninstall normally to install a new version.
Those are not “steps” but are options to choose from when you run the removal bat tool. You only need to run option 2 and then reboot when it completes.
Thanks for the reply, i just tried this and the tool ran ok but gave some system 5 error for not being able to access some sys files, something to do with mapping or .map, but said that files had been removed successfully at the end, i rebooted and tried to install but i get an error: 12029 (failed to initialize, check internet connection) but my internet is working fine, i tried running as admin to. Any ideas what i can try? (im using Win10 home 64bit)
UPDATE:
Just tried again and it gets to the bit where the download starts for the firewall and gets to about 5-10% then a popup appears saying “cannot launch setup package corrupted” where u have to click ok but i can see the download continuing while this pop up is on screen and have tired installing the previous version and also get the same error message so i think that pop up is a bug of some kind. When i press OK i see this “Cannot install Comodo Firewall ERROR: 4294967295”
Still trying to get to install comodo on my PC with no luck, any support appreciated.
Does anyone from comodo watch this board?
i’m still stuck and can’t do anything until i get some assistance, if anyone has an alternative link to comodo support where i can get help with the free firewall please post, i’d be happy to pay for the firewall if it worked, i can’t seem to find any alternative firewall which has all the functions comodo has(any suggestions).
My issue is listed in my last few posts, i need to get comodo installed on my PC but nothing has worked so far and it’s not like i have an unusual pc setup, basic Win10 home edition.
Hoping someone from comodo can help me get past these install errors i keep getting…
(Update - in the meantime i found binisofts windows firewall controller which seems to offer some control but but still searching for something which gave as many options as comodo’s firewall, if anyone knows of a secure firewall, even a router based one, looking for a comodo replacement due to the fact it won’t install :o(
Hi nona1,
Sorry for the situation you are in.
Looks like you have already tried everything that was available as troubleshooting option.
Let me discuss with the team if there is any information can be gleaned from system to help you further.
Thanks

Thanks, something is making the installer think the setup file is corrupted and not sure why but it gives a error 4294967295, i have tried a few different installers with same results, i think the issue must stem from the very old version of comodo CIS i tried to install which was not compatible with win10, this must have left something behind, i think it may have been as old as version 5.5.19 (which is what i used with win7) or possibly an older version from an old installer file i tried.
The .bat file (suggested fix) i tried removed some stuff but also showed some errors but was unsure how to get the log file for this.
I also manually removed any comodo tagged entries in the registry, i think i did this before i ran the .bat file but after running the other suggested tools in this thread.
Hope this might help a little.
Hi, nona1.
Could you please provide MSInfo32 output, Windows Event logs and CIS installation logs?
To collect msinfo32.nfo:
- Find and run msinfo32 in Start menu.
- Click ‘Save’ item in ‘File’ menu.
To collect Windows Event logs:
- Find and run Event Viewer in Start menu.
- Select ‘Windows Logs’ → ‘Application’ in opened window.
- Right mouse click on it ‘Save All Events As…’.
- Save as ‘Application’ events.
- Repeat steps 2-4 for ‘Security’, ‘Setup’, ‘System’ events.
To collect CIS installation logs:
Go to Temp folder and save ‘cmdinstaller.exe_X_X.log.7z’ file.
Add collected msinfo32.nfo, Windows Event logs and CIS installation logs to archive and send it to us for further investigation.
Thank you.
I have successfully used the removal tool (required because of an incomplete update to CIS 10) but it did generate a lot of errors and I now have 2 CIS entries in my list of installed programs.
Comodo has promised a fully supported removal tool on several occasions but nothing ever gets released. Almost all the other major security vendors have one. If a fully supported removal tool was made available and easy to find on Comodo’s web site I believe this particular thread would be MUCH smaller!
You might be able to remove Comodo using ESET AV Remover (End of Life | ESET Online Help) which claims to be able to remove “almost any” AV. I haven’t tried it.
