G’day,
When CVA is doing a db update, the status line says “Updation in progress”. AFAIK, updation isn’t a real word.
It should say
“Update in progress”
or
“Updating …”

Maybe it it’s a real word?

Quote from Wiktionary:
This word is mainly used in some Asian countries instead of updating.
Maybe CVA is made in China?

DOH! I thought I had a pretty good vocabulary, but I’ve NEVER heard of this word.
Ewen
P.S. I still think the other wording is more understandable.
Don’t forget that the traditional book dictionary and internet dictionary can be worlds apart. How reliable is the internet? LOL
Well, UPDATION is obviously a mislead mixture of the frisian/anglosaxon prefix “up” and the latin verb “dare”, that, if being used in nominal style, would have sounded “datio”. (which obviously means something like “donation”)
The ending “n” is just a relict of the root from the latin genitive that would have sounded (2000 years ago):
“dation-is”.
Whoever invented that ■■■■, it was more than influential on not just the English, but also the German language.
Just think of engl. imagination, germ. Imagination, and then: lat. imaginatio (genitive: imagination-is).
LOL
Now having a ■■■■
You’ll certainly need a ■■■■ after all this nonunderstandable text. :■■■■
Does it confirm that ‘updation’ is a real word? ???
It may be a real word now, still it’s a rather new word. And ugly as hell. :-TD
I wonder what our world’s common language will sound like in the year 2525. ???
This language will be called ZAGA 'n EVNS, of course. (:NRD)

Somewhat glad to not be alive then and to have to hear that. (:AGL)
Now playing: When I’m dead and gone.
Hi Ewen,
Just to make sure our English doesn’t confuse rest of the world
‘Updation’ is now ‘Update’ in last release.
Thanks
