IPTV multicast

I’m using virtual set-top-box, with which I can watch TV in high quality. The problem is multicast isn’t working because of “block all incoming connections” global rule. How can I allow STB to recieve conections without altering global rule?

You’ll need to create a rule above the block that allows the inbound traffic. If there’s a client application that’s required to view TV on the PC, it will also require one or more application rules. As an example, my IPTV global rule is:

Action - Allow
Protocol - UDP
Direction - In
Source Address - The address(s) of the device sending the data
Destination Address - The IP MAC address of the PC on which IPTV is viewed
Source Port - Any
Destination Port - 1234

The easiest way to set this up is to rune the Stealth Ports Wizard with the first option:

Define a new trusted network and make my ports stealth for everyone else

This will create a couple of rules to allow inbound and outbound traffic from/to devices on your LAN. Assuming your STB has an address in the same range as your PC, this should be all you need for Global rules.

Thanks, that worked. But is it secure?

Do you trust other devices on your LAN?

Yes, my LAN is private.
