IP & Protocol vs TCP or UDP

I’ve been wondering if creating an “Allow IP In with protocol TCP” rule
the same as creating an “Allow TCP In (with default parameters rule)”.

In other words, the difference is you’re able to choose the ports using an “Allow TCP In” rule, isn’t it?

Hello, twipley.

Yes, you’re right, allowing incoming IP with Protocol set to TCP is the same as allowing incoming TCP with source/destination ports set to ANY. Obviously, you should prefer the TCP (or UDP) protocol option, since it allows to specify port numbers.

Thanks for the feedback.
