Hi SG65. I see where you are coming from about above average users, and this is just my opinion to know the ins and outs of CIS yes you need some expertise but just for the average user (like myself) to use it in an average situation without knowing the ins and outs of CIS they still get plenty of security. I think a non expert user will only get into trouble if they start to play with settings they know nothing about without doing some research first. An average user will stay an average user if he/she is not willing to learn new things.
Yes, I do. Online Armor. It just doesn’t work with my machine.
CIS is the second HIPS based most user friendly (and the only one I would use other than OA, whatever Matousec says).
That’s why I say the circle needs to be squared.
I’m not really sure, because the program is out of my PC now.How is possible for defense software to be in auto-learn mode by default? Not a single message about that?I have no words to describe this, if it’s true.
Try (D+) in training mode and you will see it’s not a problem for CIS to protect you. It’s not an excuse, really.
Yes, this is why I was amused at their wording of fully-functional. I don’t know, I think I am like most people and would expect something called fully-functional to not have limited functionality. That is just misleading advertising.
It’s a bit like a car with a two degree steering radius, the horsepower of a lawnmower, with the top speed of turtle. Yes, it’s a fully-functional automobile, but its usefulness is next to nothing.
Melih even provides Comodo’s paid package for free to people who need it but can’t afford it.
Whereas Outpost can’t even provide basic security for free.
Comodo is a great product and a great company who provide a lot of quality products for free. Outpost cannot get away with taking the title of a great product and using it in rubbish.
These are all misleading statements imo. They should not be allowed to make such wild claims like these…look at the underlined claims especially, these kind of claims give “false sense of security”.
This desktop security industry is a unique industry where consumers and businesses spend $10B a year on, and there is simply no standard that their products have to comply with!
You buy a simple padlock for $5, even that $5 padlock has standards it has to comply with…but Desktop Security product that is supposed to secure your online bank, your private details complies with NO STANDARD!!! And as if this is not enough, they go ahead and make claims like the above which causes false sense of security imo.
@Melih: I agree. I hear all the time about peoples’ computers being infected even when their ‘impenetrable’ security suite installed. I always think that they spend top dollar on products that don’t work, and none of them use comodo which is free. I even heard someone telling someone to remove comodo when they never even used it. They were surrendering their computer with Kaspersky. Can’t wait to see them get infected and then I can tell that person that they should have gone with comodo.
Imo. Anyone that has to over dramatise, over exaggerate, falsely advertise, mislead, or straight out lie to get you to use or buy their product don’t have enough trust in their own products quality to do this itself. Honesty is the the best form of advertising, for all products. Free, paid, superior, or inferior.
