inspect.sys Windows XP crash

In normal mode Windows XP crashes after login, the reason given is inspect.sys. If I remove inspect.sys from the Windows/System32/Drivers folder I can start in normal mode (but of course it reappears).

When I then tries to remove Comodo (after stopping it) via the Control Panel I get a message saying that there is a network error trying to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\CIS.Setup.msi. There is no folder C:\Windows\Installer on this hard disk.

I can use Internet Explorer and Thunderbird, but not Firefox, which hangs when loading data.

I have downloaded CIS again trying to reinstall, but the install crashes.

CIS version 5.5.195786.1383 and Windows XP Home edition SP3.

Hi Kai41,
The C:\Windows\Installer folder is a hidden Operating system folder.
Caution
To view you would have to go to Tools, folder options, view, an untick Hide protected operating system files.
It is hidden for a reason and is not recommended to be manually altered.
Manually altering the contents can cause programs updaters/uninstallers to malfunction or cease.

Regarding failed uninstall/re-install download a copy of CIS here and then try the unofficial Uninstaller Tool for Comodo Products before attempting re-install.
