Infected XP owners left unpatched

And so what?

Microsoft urged those who are infected to ensure their machine is cleaned of the rootkit. It recommended using its malware removal tool or using rootkit detectors from other security companies.

Many modern security packages have them built in and will find rootkits when a machine is scanned.

Also note that a computer running a rootkit is not also, from credit cards and passwords, dangerous to itself, but also dangerous to all the web if, from other issues, behaving as a zombie.

It is not Microsoft’s function to clean via updates computers people contaminated themselves, but theres’s an ethic obligation for the concerned people to clean their computers before they contaminate others.

And so nothing.

I just thought it was an interesting article. Apparently not.
