Impressive indeed. You are really powering up the Comodo Firewall a lot (:CLP). I think the other firewall vendors will again have some catching up to do. How about the HIPS of Version 3.0 vs V2.4. Any changes?
HIPS relate to CPU firewall…

IC That is true. Mallware cannot run without cpu time. (:AGL) (B). HIPS is indeed the first defense against mallware. An equivalent of a powerful barrier or forcefield in science fiction. (:CLP)
Have you of this product called DEEP FREEZE. It kinda like a pump up of windows system restore but more accurate. DEEP FREEZE is the ultimate system restore. Ultragunner, I guess you’re using v3 because v2 doesn’t include HIPS (= CPU firewall) at all. I have been using CFP 2.4, but the HIPS of Spyware Terminator since CFP 2.x has none.
V2.4 has a semi-hips. It controls some Interproccess relationships(Parent/Child)
However you are correct in that CFP3 has ful hips and can control just about every aspect of a procces.

But v2 only restricts network access, even when it firewalls a program because of parent, child, behaviour or whatever, it doesn’t prevent it from running, it just negates network access.
This is how I’ve understood it too, so the definition of HIPS excludes version 2.4.
As for improvements, I think it’s amazing that v 3 has so much more functionality than 2.4 - but still uses less resources!

Factually correct. But think about it. HIPS just means system control really.
Controlling network access would also be HIPS. What is the point of controlling and filtering all kinds of process and file related processes and you don’t filter network access??
Logically speaking network control is just a subset of system control, so firewalls (even the basic ones) are just a specialized HIPS.
The only reason why we don’t see it this way is because we see firewalls as something “already there” and hence people think it is not HIPS.
