'Ideal' settings for web browsing?

Hi!
I’m using Maxthon as my default browser and i’m not a big fan of Kiosk because it just changes my habits, and i’m very attached to my habits… So i was thinking in setting my browser to run automatically sandboxed everytime i open it, but there are several restriction levels and it all seems a bit confusing to me.

I’ve already set the Firewall to treat Maxthon as a web browser, but i have no clue what restriction level i should use for it to run sandboxed or what other tweaks i should set up in Comodo. I’ve noticed ‘Restricted’ level doesn’t allow me to use clipboard, so that’s not very handy.

Any ideas please?
I’m completely open to suggestion in this search for the ‘ideal’ browsing setup.

Btw, are the downloaded files protected automatically if i run the browser sandboxed? Is my online banking data secure?..

so do you want your browser to be fully virtualized or do you want access restriction? i would recommend fully virtualized.

But if i auto-sandbox there’s no option to fully virtualize. I’ve applied the registry tweak, but it’s not in auto-sandbox…

And how do i find my downloads?? is there a shortcut for the sandbox?

Edit: One more question… Are the downloaded files automatically restricted when i open them?

if you want to fully virtualize your browser the easiest way is to go to tasks → sandbox tasks → run virtual and browse to your browser of choice also select the option “create a virtual desktop shortcut”

If you want to download a file outside the sandbox download it to your shared space then you will be able to access it.

Really nice!

I followed your suggestions and also made a shortcut for shared space on my desktop and renamed it ‘Downloads’. I like it! :-TU

Just one question… is this a safe way to do online banking?

yes it is safe assuming you dont play with malware in the sandbox, even if you do make sure to reset your sandbox after your done (under sandbox tasks).

Well… i’ve just noticed i can’t use the clipboard… lol This will not work for me after all…

I guess i can’t use full virtualization and use the clipboard at the same time…

Sounds like a bug. Please report it here with the required format

weird… now it’s working fine and i can’t replicate. My settings haven’t changed.

If this occurs again, i’ll post the bug.

I have to say… now i’m really really happy with my setup

Thank you wasgij6! :-TU

weird, well im glad its working good for you :-TU

is there a way to auto dump the sandbox when you close the browser?

:-TU

wishlist…

You can make a simple script to wait for the browser to be closed and then delete its content.

I can try to make that for you if you wish. It’s pretty easy and it can run all day on background

thanks for the offer. I could do that also. pretty easy indeed
