high cpu - upd7C.tmp (Comodo internet security helper service)

Window 8.1 running Comodo firewall 8.2.0.4978

Excessive cpu usage 60%-80% – when I look at task manager and do properties on the ‘Comodo internet security helper service’, it shows upd7C.tmp is responsible.

Open the directory C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security and it shows 24 different udpXX.tmp files. – What are they and why are they taking so much cpu.

I just updated to 8.2.0.4978 and now I am really having problems with speed.

I wish I knew if I had turned on logging or even HIP but the configuration logs only go back to the update install.

Can the HIP becausing problems?

I also see this process sometimes and it is using 7-22% of the CPU. Its I/O delta is up to roughly 5 500 000/second (unsure what is that, exactly, but System Explorer says that; OpenVPN and SystemExplorer delta is usually around 1M too).
I am downloading some quite big files, so i just tried to set Antivirus to ignore files above 40MB. But no help.

CIS window is also lagging at same time and is unresponsive most of the time during this… cmdagent.exe 10-15% CPU. Sometimes i have around 2500 simultaneous connections shown in it. Windows Task manager do not show any CPU/RAM/HDD being exhausted. Unsure about IOPS, have HDD.

Reason why such tmp files are created is due to insufficient file permissions… update is detected (eg unable to access file), file is renamed to tmp, replacement is downloaded. Fix permissions & re-install.

Thx, I have not changed permissions of the sub folders/files in “C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security”, which folder or files do you mean to check for bad permissions?

I was responding to OP. Your issue appears to be different. Looks like some incompatibility. Which version are you using?

Windows 10 Home 64bit and CIS Premium 10 10.0.1.6258

Can you check if there’s any dmp file under %ProgramData%\Comodo\CisDumps? Please provide a diagnostics report.
