heur.cav & vc80.crt 'side by side' errors

Hi guys first post here & all of that, long time user & fan of comodo, however …

…whilst using the latest version, I’m getting 3 entries in Computer management as follows;-

Event Type: Error

So I ‘thunk for a bit’ (it hurt! lol) & decided that the only time I’ve ever had ‘side by side’ errors was when I was trying to learn C++ and that had introduced some different libraries … went off to M$ & got the latest & greatest, no different …

(heur.cav is also where its supposed to be & CIS’s diagnostics find no errors)

Uninstall comodo & ‘hey presto’ no more errors in event viewer.

So I guess I’m concluding this is your end ‘somewheres’ & its showing up for me because I’m an x64 user, I’m guessing its just a packaging error & the only downside for me at the moment is infectual heuristics ?

(btw while I’m here as a diehard firefox fan, I’d just like to point out that I had to use IE to register with as I couldn’t see the ‘verification image’)

Righty ho, so I fixed it myself … :-TU

it was what I thought, version mismatch of c++ assemblies, & my original fix should’ve got it

BUT it’d seem Comodo’s programmers haven’t noticed that the assemblies they are using for X64 windows are from a different distributable set, than that maintained by windows update (they’d be the 2005 ones) or found in x64 originally

What I actually needed was this ;-
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=ba9257ca-337f-4b40-8c14-157cfdffee4e
(which is Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package for x64)

So yup, “packaging error” , as I definitely shouldn’t have to go off & get some revised assemblies myself, they ought to have been included in any download from comodo.

Anyways, it now has a ‘temp fix’ & is now documented, and those few folks who get these symptoms can hang on until the next program update, which I’m sure will include the right redistributables >:-D
