Total 41 Items

Wow, now that’s a lot of items!

Now here’s what I think:

ehTray - Seem kinda useless, disable it.

AGRSMMSG - I googled it and the description didn’t tell me too much about it. Keep it if you use it, else disable.

Apoint - If your touchpad works without it, then go on and disable it

RAMASST - It’s used to disable the XP built-in CD burning functions, as it can be done thru MS Services, you can disable it.

TPSMain - “It manages the power save function to make sure that the system goes to a power saver mode when not used.”, I think Windows can handle it without this program?

TouchED - Seems to not have any real function, disable it.

igfxpers - Let’s you change some graphic card options, but disable it, you can change the configuration without it.

MSMSGS - If you don’t use as your IM application, disable it.

ctfmon.exe - I don’t think you can disable it without HIPS. You can disable it from auto-starting at startup, but it will start itself anyways.

VEngine - Comodo Vertification Engine, Keep it!

cnfgCav - CAVS, keep it!

BOC-425 - Keep BOClean!

COMODO Firewall Pro - Yepp, like with all other Comodo products, keep this one too!

Comodo Memory Guardian - Another Comodo product, keep it!

SpywareTerminator - Security products are never unnecessary, keep this one too!

00THotkey - Sounds like it’s related with hotkeys, disable unless you use them.

SoundMAX - Looks like you can configure your sound options thru this? Disable it.

SoundMAXPnP - Only required if you use custom effects.

SmoothView - Offers zooming ability, unless you have problems with your eyes, you can safely disable it.

LtMoh - “Handles incoming and outgoing calls”. IP-telephony?

MSKDetectorExe - McAfee SpamKiller, keep if you’re using it.

PadTouch - Doesn’t seem necessary, disable.

RemoteControl - Part of PowerDVD, if you have a remote control for your PC you can use it for your DVD, but I
doubt you do, so disable.

IntelWireless - Disable unless it’s required for your wireless network to work.

ThpSrv - HDD Protection, keep if you want, else disable.

Tvs - Access to sound settings, not necessary, so disable this.

DDWMon - Disable unless it’s required.

000StTHK - For hotkeys, disable unless you use it.

TPSODDCtl - Power saving related, can’t Windows handle it?

IntelZeroConfig - Sounds like it’s related to wireless network, disable unless necessary for network to function proper.

TOSDCR - And this is…?

TosHKCW.exe - Looks like it’s safe to disable this one.

TFNF5 - Another hotkey-related process, disable unless you use it.

MSMSGS - There’s two of these?

NeroFilterCheck - Think this is required for Nero burning software to work.

PSQLLauncher - Looks safe to disable.

TOSCDSPD - Disable this, should work without.

desktop.ini - Disable this one.

desktop.ini - You won’t need two entries?

swg - Google toolbar notifier, disable everything related to toolbars!

Google Updater - Disable.

Phew, that’s all!

Ragwing

wow thx ragwing, it will take sometimes to read them all, i’ll print this page and check each one of them. as for the MSMSGS, i don’t use it, but i’ve tried to disable it once, but then a warning showed up telling that “something” need MSMSGS.
i don’t use any remote control, and i don’t know that there’s mcafee spam killer installed on my computer? i’m sure i’ve de-install them all. (mcafee trial is preinstalled too).
and another silly question : what is hotkey ? (:NRD)

Ganda

edit :
OK, now i have 12 enabled startup items :

TPSMain.exe (power saver)

V-engine (our lovely CVE  )

CnfgCAV (CAVS (B) )

CFP ( (B) )

CBO ( (J) )

CMG (love the chubby willlsmith  )

Spyware Terminator

ctfmon.exe (not sure what it is,but i think my other computers have this one too)

Soundmax (maybe it’s just me, but when i disabled this function, i need to increase the speaker volume more than usual)

ThpSrv (toshiba power saver)

TPSODDCtl ( toshiba power saver, oh my…what a name)

Apoint (touchpad)

i’m still not sure about the AGRSMMSG (the hell…?!?) & desktop.ini.
There are 2 desktop.ini, one with no icon & the other one has a similar icon with RAMASST.

any advance sugesstions ragwing?

Keyboard shortcut - Wikipedia ;D

Those looks okay.
About ctfmon I found this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282599

Seems like it’s related with Office XP, which is strange, since I don’t got Office, but still got ctfmon.exe.
If you don’t use Office XP, there’s instructions how to disable it.

All I get about AGRSMMSG is this:

agrsmmsg.exe is a process installed alongside SoftModem Assistant and provides additional configuration options for these devices. This program is a non-essential process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems.

I think you safely can disable it. Try disabling it, and if any problem occurs, enable it.

Now about desktop.ini, I think it best to leave them alone, I’m not sure what they do really.
I guess they’re important, as they’re hidden and system files by default.

I’ve checked the one in ‘My documents’ but it made no sense to me…

[DeleteOnCopy] Owner=Rasmus Personalized=5 PersonalizedName=Mina dokument

I guess they’re for some configuration, so as I said, better leave them alone till you know what they do.

Ragwing

OK, thx Ragwing,

i’ve disabled AGRSMMSG & the desktop.ini (s), no problem so far.
maybe i’ll wait to see if there’s strange behavior, my other computers don’t have these.
and why do i need two desktop.ini? and i think the desktop.ini (the one with no icon) has the same icon with google updater icon once, and now the icon is missing ???
