Halite Rules

ok I think im in the right forum thread IN halite I have three app rules1halite parent explorer set to allow out2 halite parent firefox what should this be set to in or out 3 halite parent isa186h.temp. I think the last one has to do with dht and i have it set to out for now but not sure.Ccould someone please tell me how these rules should go thank you.also for this program had to open to ports in my router one for tcp and one for udp and halite is set correctly for these ports

Hi spud213. Actually, Halite is a different p2p program so it does not exactly fit the thread title. Your post may have to be moved, but I’m not sure ATM. In regards to the last one, isa186h.temp, I doubt it’s required for DHT, or that it’s even required at all. It’s a temporary file. What happens if you remove the rule for that?

ok I read on there site http://www.binarynotions.com/forum/index.php that this is a temp file which is used for dht, utorrent stored this data where halite only stores it temporarealy I think.as usual I,m playing with things I dont understand.any hint as to the first two rules 1and2 in, out, in/and out.getting lost here.could be this time again :■■■■ also changed these rules while I was trying to get it to work right so now im lost lol.

also when I first seen this file in my apps I sent it to comodo because i was not sure what it was thanks

This is from the Firewall FAQs:

Never having used Halite, I can only assume the same rule principles apply. Try those. I’m most familiar with uTorrent with the general template rule:
Allow TCP/UDP In Where Source Is Any (the internet) And Destination Is Any (your IP) and Source Port is Any and Destination Port is Halite’s listening port (whatever you assigned).

As for outgoing connections, you should be able to safely allow everything on the TCP/UDP protocols.

well thanks for the reply but i read all that already and i still cant get any nodes also i now have 4 entries in the apps rules for halite two for firefox one for hallite with explore parent and one hallite parent temp.as above this is why I never ask anything someone seems to link you to some thing that is no help to me.if you dont know what this parent file temp is how can you send me anywhere.as far as getting help from this forum the help i got was with vlc.if you include me going all over the net to find the anser on how to get that to work with comodo lol.if port forward had this program in the list I would not even come here because I can follow directions that are that easy.Im just telling you something is not right thanks for the reply

Forgive me for posting irrelevant links. As stated above, I have never used Halite, so how can I be 100% certain that they did not help? I had to start somewhere by referring you to links that I deemed were at least in the realm of your issue…

Are you able to upload screenshots of your rules and a sample of your logs? Perhaps something is relevant in there that may provide clues so we can proceed further. Given your vague description of your “3” or “4” app rules it is nearly impossible for me to ascertain the required information.
