Google-Kingsoft Dictionary Doesn't Work with Comodo

Hi guys,

Prior to installing Comodo I had used the Google-Kingsoft dictionary (http://g.iciba.com/) which allows you to hover over words and it will pop up with a translation. Now this doesn’t work. I looked in the DEFENSE+ log, and it appears to be blocking all of them.

Here are some examples from the log:

Date/Time Application Action Target
11/11/2008 2:05:47 PM C:\Program Files\Kingsoft\PowerWord Lite\XDict.exe Access Memory C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cfp.exe
11/11/2008 2:05:52 PM C:\Program Files\Kingsoft\PowerWord Lite\XDict.exe Access Memory C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cfp.exe
11/11/2008 2:05:55 PM C:\Program Files\Kingsoft\PowerWord Lite\XDict.exe Access Memory C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cfp.exe

I have disabled DEFENSE+ and it still doesn’t work, it only works if I completed shut off Comodo (annoying to do). If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this please tell me as soon as possible. It should be noted that this program is heavily used in China/Asia, so it may deter a lot of Chinese users from using Comodo (so it could potentially be a serious problem!)

Thanks.

Try making the “.exe” safe:

Please provide additional information as per IMPORTANT: HOW TO SUBMIT BUGREPORTS (READ THIS IF YOU WANT THEM FIXED) and a full D+ Log export.

The D+ Log entries you posted only pertain Google-Kingsoft dictionary attempts to access cfp.exe memory (CFP/CIS protection) and should not be related to the issue you described.

Even treating Google-Kingsoft dictionary as a Trusted application will not be able to implicitely bypass CFP/CIS protection.

I’ve just tried Google-Kingsoft Dictionary with the latest CIS allowing all parts of the utility and it works perfectly. Try to find Defense+ rule for XDict.exe and set Truster predefined policy instead of custom.
