Well the only problem i see left is that “cfp.exe” spikes and crashes firefox (3.6 Beta 2) and just when im checking my facebook even just the stupid stuff it will BOOM and peace!.. i thought i got rid of that spiking for the other thread from this forum i deleted the “bases.cav” from the one file and copied over the other one from the repair file like it said… UGH!.. i am starting to hate computers…

I have tried alot of different methods to cycle down cfp.exe but nothing… only thing that works is exiting COMODO or closing i mean…lol and thats just not safe… so any ideas let me know… cause if all these problems are coming straight from the horses mouth well i gotta do something else… i guess… i dont want to but im tired of all this…help if you can thanks…

You are using a Beta product (Firefox).

Perhaps Comodo needs extra fine tuning to suit new idiosyncrasies as they evolve on Firefox,
in which case you may need to choose whether to change your protection or your browser.

I recommend that you look at Beta Firefox specialist forums.
You may find a recommendation for a less incompatible A.V.,
or you may find that most A.V. protection “blows chunks” when faced with Firefox 3.6 Beta

My preference is to use fully released products rather than “Work In Progress” Beta experiments.

I use Open Office for documents.
I resisted temptations of extra facilities with Beta versions fearing that an important document might be damaged
There is no way that I would contemplate risking security of the whole computer system with an Internet facing Beta browser that is not compatible with my security suite.

Alan

seeing how your concerned about bases.cav and stuff. I guessing you have dial-up

While comodos firewall and hips (defence +) is top-notch. The anti-virus still needs some polishing. (like large signiture downloads. (After all the anti-virus is still new, but it will be well polish in time)

Since I don’t know how to stop comodo anti-virus updating, The only solution I know is to use a different anti-virus product until the signitures get smaller

If you go this route, can I recommend avast home. First, I would download the newest comodo version. Then Uninstall comodo. Now install comodo, when installing "REMOVE the checkmark for “Comodo Anti-Virus”
Comodo will have to learn your computer all over again. I recommend putting “Defence +” in training mode for a day or so. Just keep any possible pop-ups to a low as possible, if any pop-ups at all. Then put it in “clean PC mode”

Install AVAST Home, when installing. Use custom installation, Disabling the resident protection for “instant messaging”, P2P SHIELD, Internet Mail, and outlook exchange. Don’t worry, this WON’T effect your protection in any way. It’s mostly a marketing gimmick and it adds to the bloat.

crashes firefox (3.6 Beta 2) and just when im checking my facebook even just the stupid stuff it will BOOM and peace!
Well, it is beta. I'd recommend using the regular firefox then. I'm personally using the new firefox 3.7b1 It's a little more glitchly then 3.6 beta 2, but it seems to work for me. But that's the way the cards fall. Either It will or it won't, thats the way it is
i deleted the rest of those and its running better.. I hope it keeps up.. Thanks for all the help brother.. here's the aftermath hijackthis.. and if anything pops in the head let me know.. i will be up for anything for improvements..
I see a possiblbe 2 things, but I'm going to stop there. Why jinx it :) If your still having MAJOR problem, then I say your going to have to reformat the comuter and reinstall windows over again

If there’s something you like any advice on, like on how to do something or how people can do whatever. Just PM me. Worst case senerio, I just DON’T know the answer or I’ll refuse to tell you an answer on something (if you know what I mean >:-D )

I dont have dial up… I have Broadband… The bases.cav thing was from another thread that i just tried…

The FireFox beta thing was i was trying to run a different version cause i thought that the 3.5.5 was crashing all the time and not letting me watch videos… So i wanted to try something new… I have gone back to the regular non-beta since it still happened in the beta… With that i dont know… IM still going nuts i will be 13 - 20 seconds in a video and BOOM stalls, freezes and then crashes the internet…

Avast?? is it free cause thats the biggest reason why i use comodo… second is that the help factor of this forum… I think this is the only problem i have had the most trouble with… (last one was a global hook)…

I want to keep Comodo, but how the hell can i lessen the cfp.exe. i was thinking to turn off the firewall and just run the windows firewall but then it still runs cfp.exe no matter what…

and what were your other “2 possibles”

The FireFox beta thing was i was trying to run a different version cause i thought that the 3.5.5 was crashing all the time and not letting me watch videos.. So i wanted to try something new.. I have gone back to the regular non-beta since it still happened in the beta
Whatever firefox your using now keep it, but add this firefox verson too to try.

it’s a portable version of firefox 3.7. after downloading it save it to the desktop. open the folder and click on firefox.exe Then check for updates. Now see if you can download movies that you had problems with before with the other versions of firefox. If it works, great. try some other stuff with it. If it works fine, use the portable firefox 3.7 version and get rid of the older version. IF it doesn’t help, delete the portable firefox 3.7 folder on the desktop. Just deleting the folder itself should be considered uninstalled. It’s that easy

OR MAYBE THIS

Another possibley what you can watch some movie online is that you don’t have “flash” for firefox.
Go to

  1. on the left side, click on “Browsers and Plugins”
  2. scroll down and look for this
Flash Player Adobe Systems Inc - (Freeware)
3)now download this Flash Player 10.0.32.18 (Non-IE) - Download <---this is for firefox 4)follow the instrutions for installing it 5)after installing you'll PROBABLY (just guessing) need to restart firefox 6)Now try watching the movie that you had problems with before

===================================================
It a small possiblity, but it’s an easy test
The test is about the dsl line quality of your downloading and such (to keep it insanely simple as possible)

try some of the test here
http://www.dslreports.com/stest

also I’d recommend reading their faq, specifically this one
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/faq
It may help you it it’s a ISP problem or a hardware promblem, if either is the case

If you have a hard time interperting the the test results, You should be fine. Ask them for their opinion on how good your test results are.

side notes

Avast?? is it free cause thats the biggest reason why i use comodo
It only free for a year, but it doesn't has a firewall and I think it contains on ad(non-intrusive) now
I want to keep Comodo, but how the hell can i lessen the cfp.exe
Sorry, I don't know :( Maybe someone else can possibly answer that question

try posting a question about that here and in good detail about the problem
be sure to include that your running windows xp (sp2) 86x and how much memory your computer has, like 512k 1gb, etc

https://forums.comodo.com/firewall_help-b135.0/

Caution about Portable Firefox.

It was not “born” portable, it was “portabalised”.

It includes an *.ini file from which “standard” Firefox registry keys etc. etc. are restored when it starts so that the portable version resumes as per its previous session, and this *.ini is updated with the latest keys etc. when it closes. The “standard” keys etc. are then restored.

It all works perfectly, BUT I suspect chaos and confusion if the Portable and the installed versions were to run at the same time.

I have experienced such issues when trying to simultaneously use the portable and installed versions of WinMerge.

Alan

Well knowing its never a fix or not always a good way out… i just peac’d out my hard drive and reformatted and reinstalled… Soo all of the “problems” are gone for now… just don’t know what anti-virus to go with… I appreciate all the help… so for now this problem is fixed…

i just peac'd out my hard drive and reformatted and reinstalled.. Soo all of the "problems" are gone for now
When all else fails, reformanting seems like an easy option. Having a guest account for the people that like to play on the computer. Instead of the administrator.
just don't know what anti-virus to go with..
Whatever makes you happy there's avira, prevx, nod32, avast. I'm sure you can find one that you like. Basicly "set it and forget it" Im sure you find one :)

Mr. Tortoise, judging from some of the sites you have visited, I have no problem understanding why you are slow! Hey–I visit some nasty sites also. You can run a virus scan and malware scan all you want but it will do no good if you don’t take one other step first. When you contract a virus, a clever one will do two things first. 1—disable your antivirus, and 2—embed itself in System Restore. So, you run virus and malware scans and delete everything and PRESTO—they reappear! Of course—they’re still alive and well in System Restore. Personally, I do not use System Restore at all as regular backups are really the best solution. I have System Restore turned off so no nasties can’t make it their playground. If I were working on your system the first thing I would do would be to make a “clone” of your HDD so I would have an exact copy (just in case). Then I would turn System Restore OFF which deletes any and all restore points. It also frees up many gigabytes of free space on your HDD. Then, I would go into “safe” mode and try running both virus scans and several different malware scans using a few different free programs. You can also (not in safe mode) Google for “online virus scans” if something has disabled your resident virus program. There are now quite a few online virus scans that should work to scan your system if your usual program can not. So, in the future ( I see that you re-formatted and reinstalled your OS), remember that many nasties are designed not to ever die on your system. They love to hide and laugh their tiny little a$$'s off when you try to hunt them down and kill them (that’s why we actually have many of them working for our Military).
