Indeed…Legacy Anti Virus as protection is dead. Anyone using Legacy Anti Virus products as first line of defense or the only defense is either ill informed or would like to live dangerously.

I have a question…Why is a product that is still in beta stage, available as release version?
What am I talking about…Comodo Internet Security v4. This product is still to buggy to be a release version. Malicious files can slip through the sandbox and install on one’s computer. “That’s not keeping a computer clean!!!” And there are other problems. Comodo Internet Security v3 was unbeatable as a firewall when used in proactive mode but this v4 version is lacking and should still be in beta until all the major issues are solved.

There needs to be a download link for the v3 version on the Comodo website for the users who do not want to use v4.

There was no trolling or sneer involved. I simply asked a question and would like an answer which it seems I can not get.

If being inquisitive and wanting to gain knowledge is trolling I guess I am guilty as are many others in this world…

Tell us what qualification you have to verdict a software Beta or not, so that I can get our relevant QA guys to talk to you about which methods they have followed in our release procedures.

As you will appreciate, its difficult for me to put you in touch with relevant QA people in the company without knowing your level of expertise.

If you have something to say tell us about it. Describe what the problems and or shortcomings are without the trolling question. When you find a failure you can reproduce post it in the bug board.

What makes you think Comodo is sittings on its laurels and is not working on fixing bugs and working on the sandbox functionality? You could have asked what to expect for v4.1 and have gotten an answer(if memory serves me right and the roadmap still being like I recall from fall 2009):

  • virtualisation for the automatic sandboxing
  • CIMA based heuristics which requires virtualisation
  • behaviour blocker

Melih, can you comment on Comodo’s current plans for 4.1?
