Free Internet Security Premium is still supported and maintained?

Hi.

I have noticed on the new home page the link to download (free) CIS Premium is no longer exist but only free Antivirus or paid Full Antivirus which is described as Comod Internet Security but called “Full Antivirus” which I honestly don’t understand why CIS is called “Full Antivirus” and confusing if I get the AV or CIS if I purchase.

So what is the situation with the free Internet Security product? Is it still maintained and developed? Should I uninstall it, is it still safe to use?
I would like some official answer not just a moderator say “yes it is safe”. Is there any official announcement and reply from the company about this?

I was able to find a link to the old home page.
On this page I can click Personal ->Free Comodo Internet Security which takes me to the actual product page of Comodo Internet Security Premium which is offer me to purchase Full Antivirus which is again confusing why is it talking about Antivirus for the paid product but I can download the free Internet Security installer. But since it is so hidden, I was wondering if it still safe to use? And if it not, if I purchase “Full Antivirus” do I get the Internet Security package? It is very confusing why is it talking about antivirus?

I don’t believe it would be that difficult to add a link to the free CIS Premium installer on the new home page so what is happening? Is CIS Premium still developed?

Thanks.

CIS Premium Free is still available and actively developed. But as you have noticed the website has become a bit of a jungle that will go more than the extra mile to divert attention from the free version to the paid versions. That’s very unfortunate and has been extensively discusses here at the forums.

Comodo AV, Comodo Firewall and Comodo Internet Security are the same program and it is the installer that will install either one of them; the codebase is the same.

Getting the installer from the forums is the easiest route. CIS Premium Free can also be had from Comodo Internet Security Pro | Complete Internet Protection Suite . You will have to scroll to almost the bottom of the page and choose the Free version from the comparison table.

Thank you for the reply. The link you shared is much more consistent in that regard it is talking about “Internet security” and also share the download link to the free version of CIS. I honestly don’t understand why Comodo have so many different product pages for the same thing and why the proper ones like the one you shared is hidden. It is almost feels like 2 different web designer working on the pages.

I understand Comodo would like to push people toward the paid version but I don’t like it the way they hide the pages with the free download link. Why they don’t move Secure Shopping to be not included in the free version and that’s it. The free version would include the AV, Sandbox and Firewall and the Pro version would also include Secure Shopping and there is also other tools like the Virtual Desktop, the System monitor, Cleaning tool to discover rootkits all that could be a pro feature and job done and keep everything transparent instead of making this mess and uncertainty. I don’t like this.

I don’t mind to pay for the Pro version but they do need to give me proper reasons to upgrade instead of trying to trick me by hiding the download links to the free version and not only that they hide entire product pages not just links. It makes no sense and annoying.
We either have a free version or we don’t, if we do then stop hiding it and maybe instead move some features from free to Pro to make people upgrade and if Comodo would like to continue offer full security for free then why they are hiding it?

It feels almost like there is 2 owners of the company and they have a disagreement, one would like to give it away for free and one would like to push people to buy and the second one is in charge of the website. If that is the case, they need to get this sorted either drop the free version and let us know or put the links and pages back up to the home screen because it is only create uncertainty which is the opposite of “creating trust”. I really don’t know if I can trust the free version at the moment and I’m not sure if I should upgrade to the pro version under this circumstances. I did already looked at other options today just in case which I did not do in the past 6 years since I begin to use CIS. It was not a pleasant experience going through reviews again and product pages of different AV products, I hate doing this. I trust Comodo but they need to get this sorted if they want me to continue trust them and upgrade to paid version.

If they want me to upgrade, they just need to ask and give me a proper reason. They should not trick me in to buying it by hiding the links and pages LOL.

I hope someone official going to read this because they should.
Thanks.

The difference between the Free and the Pro versions are the additional services that come with the Pro versions. The Free and Pro have the exact same program. I hope that clears up things for you.

The website is aggressively pushing the Pro versions which is very unfortunate. It caused a lot of uncertainty with people speculating CIS would become a paid program. That is not the case; the website makes it hard find it there. That’s why it is best to come to the forums.

Thanks.

I understand what is the difference between free and pro, what I was trying to say is that if Comodo want to push people to pro they should either step up and be open and kill the free version or move features from the free version to pro like secure shopping, system monitor…etc
Personally I would not call it “unfortunate” the fact the website aggressively pushing for the pro version and hide the download links and pages for the free version, I would call this a “dirty tactic” to trick people and this is the opposite of “creating trust” it is only make people using the free version uncertain which is not right, a security company should give us a peace of mind and should never make us uncertain.

Comodo Internet Security either have a free version or not, hiding the free version on the forum is ridiculous and I can not trust this marketing. They need to make up their mind either kill free version and then people can choose to upgrade or move features like secure shopping to pro version and then people need that feature can choose to upgrade but hiding the free version on the forum just doesn’t feel right.

I can not trust a security product distributed on a forum only.

  • In case with the next version they step up and announce the free version is over or they move any free feature to pro , I’m going to upgrade to pro.

  • In case with the next version they continue provide the installers for the free version on the forum only and hide the links and pages on the website, I’m going to switch to a different AV product.

  • In case the next version won’t release within short amount of time and we get no proper announcement about this and they don’t put the links to the free version back up on the website, I’m going to move to a different AV product.

It is not the problem they want us to upgrade, the problem is the fact they hide the free version and make no announcement which only make us uncertain which they should never do…
They either need to kill it or put the links back up on the website, I won’t be using a “forum version” and won’t purchase the pro if they are not honest on the website.
I’m sure I am not the only person losing trust and feel this way

I didn’t state unfortunate but very unfortunate and said the web site was aggressively promoting the paid versions. It has caused a lot of waves here at the forums making people angry, uncertain and insecure.

Comodo has told us that the free version CIS (and its derivatives CAV and CPF) is there to stay. That is in line with Melih’s manifesto to provide good protection for free for all users of the world wide web.

I did not state that the free version was only available through the website. I first pointed you to one of the download links where you could download the free version from comodo.com and then adviced to come to the forums. That is only because it is an easy route although bookmarking the linked page will also do the trick. My remark was purely for convenience.

CIS will stay free. It is very unfortunate though that the pages of comodo.com aggressively try to divert attention to the paid versions. :-\
