Firewall Problem with Incredimail

Have recently installed Comodo Firewall and it resulted in a £20 'phone bill with Orange because it would not allow access or egress for e-mails with Incredimail based on OE. It has happened again tonight and I have NO applications blocked. If I turn Comodo application control rules off it works fine. What is going on?? (:AGY) Can anyone help please?

Hi

Which version of CPF are you using & was there anything in the CPF log relating to the times of the Orange Incredimail attempts?

BTW I don’t understand why any failure, CPF or anything else, could result in a £20 phone bill… could you expand on that.

20 bill.

May I mention that incredimail is an issue in it’s own way. It doesn’t like to work with security apps like worm guard, other firewalls, my vcom fix it utilities anti-V, and many others. Incredimail has extensions that if set incorrectly can cause a major fuss. While I will never use it again, many will tell you it is more like a cheap toolbar application. It will eventually leave OE in the dark as many have reported, almost taking it over. Many were having ZoneAlarm and Sygate issues as well as Kerio, were round and round with companies blocking IM, only to find it’s a bug in their software, and took long enough to say, hey, we have a problem. Get my meaning? Either way, make sure you have the latest IM as this was (supposedly) fixed. The hyperlinks were being blocked . So as just mentioned , look for updates. I would wonder though, when firewalls are brought up current, if IM is doing the same? This would leave them right where they started, blocked HLs.

I do want to tell you that is is your choice and I don’t judge what people use and was my opinion as well as some things that have happened to others. I will say this, if using a good security app, you will more than likely get issues with IM. I have a rule, if an application won’t allow me to keep my securities on, I get rid of it. While I can’ t say that IM is this bad yet, I suspect it to get worse but if it gets better, it’s from people complaining and not letting IM throw it at other apps instead. One other mention, did you manually allow the specific IM application yet? You will have to do so or , uninstall IM, install Comodo, then install IM and this may fix your issue.

Cheers,
Paul
