I really like your software, but it became unusable for me.
It started to slow my system down at some point. At first I noticed this, because it made game loading screens take ages.
I found it weird and checked my system monitoring software - it turned out there was this process from Comodo called “cmdagent.exe” that constantly hogged majority of my CPU, memory and pagefile.
I thought I’ll just press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and kill the process, but it turned out this process is not even listed in the Windows task manager. This means that average user would not even find out that this process is causing their system to have become slow and they’d end up just blaming viruses or faulty hardware.
I tried disabling every single component of CIS - firewall, antivirus, etc, nothing helped and the problem didn’t go away (this wasn’t happening on just one day).
I google’d “comodo cmdagent” and found that tons of users have a problem with it - how can you even sell your software with such a major issue? This kind of problem should have been patched overnight.
Thanks for the years your software used to serve me well. We lived in perfect harmony before, but it’s time for us to break up now. Bye.
Go to start, right click on My Computer, left click on properties, then left click on hardware, left click on your Device manager, then where it says view, left click on it, you will see “show hidden devices” left click on it. The dropdown window will show you drives, active and not active, just delete the ones that don’t belong “Google If Your Not Sure”
I know it doesn’t sound normal, but as I’ve said, I’m one of many people having problem with cmdagent.
No security programs besides COMODO IS (well, not even that right now).
Nothing, except that I recently installed Archlinux as a secondary OS. But I don’t think that’s when the problems started. And CIS version - not 100% sure, but it’s a relatively new computer and I had Comodo up to date, so I guess 6.
Does anyone know if the Comodo firewall-only product uses Cmdagent? I might install that, if there is no Cmdagent. If anyone uses that, can you look if it has deployed cmdagent.exe? You can use Ultrasearch, it can find anything in about 3 seconds.
Thanks, but I don’t think think I have any “unnecessary” devices.
Did you have other security programs installed in the past?
Make sure that left overs of previously installed security programs are no longer around by removing possible left overs with cleanup tools of those programs. Leftovers can cause all sort of strange results A list of such tools can be found here: ESET Knowledgebase .

Cmdagent.exe , Comodo Internet Security Helper Service, is the process doing the protection work in CIS and CPF together with several drivers.
