Feedback for CAVS beta 2.0.11.43

Hi tokapi,
The issue with Apache server is not yet fixed. Apache server conflicts with CAV email service. So if you still want to use CAV with Apache server, you have to uninstall CAV email LSP. To do that pls follow these steps:

  1. open command line and chaneg directory to “Comodo AntiVirus” folder ie CAV installed path
  2. type InstLsp.exe -u and press enter
  3. Now CAV LSP is uninstalled and you can work with both CAv and apache. But in this case, CAV email scanner will not scan any emails.

regards
Kishor

Hi vid,

  1. CAV scans .rar files. The .iso file must be very big (around 750MB). So, while scanning that file, cavse may take high memory but it should come to normal after scanning completes.

  2. We will check the CLaunch. Does this software available in English version?

  3. Good suggestion. We will do that.

regards
Kishor

Hello,kishork

does it have option to avoid scanning too large archive?

Unfortunately CLaunch is Japanese only.
but it runs on English version of windows anyway while it’s garbled.
1)run installer and click ’next’ till it finishes.
2)double click on desktop and launcher window appears.
3)click on top-left corner of launcher and it won’t disappear.
4)drag any program icon on launcher which is not in safelist yet.
5)click on program icon in launcher.
6)freeze!

thanks.it may help me.

Same here with RealVNC :(.

Hey Graham,

Kishor has respond today elsewhere on this and this will be fixed soon (his words). In the interim, he suggested we disable quarantining before when we run RealVNC or LogMeIn.

Cheers,
Ewen

That’s good :). Actually, I have mine set to deny rather than quarantine but it’s still annoying getting those prompts (and not being able to use the program).

Ewen,

I am using UltrVnc and didn’t encounter any problem so far. Give it a try. Personally feel that it is a better verson than RealVnc.

Regards.

Thanks, i’ll check out what other things could help CAVS to produce this bug.

I’m finding that if I run a program (process) from a remote server (i.e ///…), it is not remembered within HIPS and I have to allow each time. Is this a bug?

  1. HIPS Application Alerts doesn’t remember action. On every reboot, the HIPS pops up an alert for me, namely application \MYSERVER\clients\setup\setup.exe (Microsoft SBS app). I say Remember This Action and Allow every time but still get it on every reboot. I haven’t seen it happen with other ‘local’ apps, so maybe it’s a UNC path-specific issue.

  2. Might be nice on a virus/spyware alert to have a button that lets you put it on the Exception list. Sounds kind of weird, but my VNC viewer kept getting picked up, would been nice to been able to click a button to put it on the exception list, rather than finding the exception list. Just an efficiency thing.

Thanx!

-Tony

Dang, how stupid am i? I forgot i’ve just exluded the path where the file was … (:SHY) No wonder CAVS couldn’t scan, but how about a reminder in this case?

Will HIPS remember if you map the setup directory or you must use UNC paths?

hi,

I decided to test this beta of cavs and it was not good idea

  1. after restart 2 apps doesnt work properly - yahoo widger engine (weather widget) and speedfan 4.31
ywe - can not connect to internet
speedfan - freezes and can not be closed => turn off my notebook

  2. after next restart (with no start of weather and speedfan) everything seemed to be fine, but cavs was not responding at all even some parts of OS (restart, turn off, ctrl+alt+del do nothing). so i turn off my nb, boot in safe mode and un-install cavs

CPF is great fw, but cavs beta didnt work for me, maybe i will try the final version or RC if any but no more beta versions

wish you good luck with bug fixing (L)

My Yahoo weather widget is working fine.

Only small problem just now is that nearly everything that runs says not on the Comodo safe list so asks for submission. These are really normal things that we all must have.

Thought I would give this a mention as it’s happened on my work laptop too. Tried updating CAVS this morning and it kept failing (usually after the second program update). It wasn’t untill I disabled (or allowed) CFP that the update performed sucessfully. Also had similar problem updating the virus database on my work laptop untill I disabled CFP. Very odd as I don’t have any rules denying anything for CAVS.

Decided to re-install my laptop today and guess what… RealVNC now runs without any prompts ???. Seems that excluding from on-access/on-demand does work… but only if you install your laptop/computer from scratch :D.

When I set Hips to high and open the task manager it won’t close. Please fix that bug and I have to hit the power switch to turn the computer off. Which is the recommended setting for Hips?

tried to install it on a clean install on win xp pro 64-bit os. something was awefully wrong. the on demand scanner was massively errored and the program continually failed to start. i tried to send a auto log but i doubt you got it. i am not sure if i’m going to keep the 64-bit os so if somebody wants me to run a specific test or log next time i try to install it you must let me know fairly soon.

so far not a single issue on the 32-bit os. i just hope i don’t get another hal.dll error like last time ugh, that was painful. take care and message me if you have pertinent questions or tips.

peace!

Sorry, Comodo apps do not currently support 64Bit OS. CFP v3 will be the first one. They’re trying to get CAVS to a solid, stable base b4 added 64Bit there.

thanks, if any of the techies want me to try a version of something they are testing next time i install the 64-bit let me know otherwise i’ll stop paying attention to this thread.
