What actually happened or you saw:
I tried to make a “One-Rule-Fits-All-Applications” Predefined Policy with a basic set of rules making all apps safe to run, no matter how malicious the apps might be. -
What you wanted to happen or see:
I wanted see a rule working for all applications, but it won’t, unless I have access to a Comodo variable containing the application’s path and another containing its name -
Why you think it is desirable:
Being able to have one Predefined Policy that works with all applications and makes them safe to run without any further modifications in Comodo, is very desirable, as it saves a lot of time -
Any other information:[/nobbc]
The request is for a Comodo variable ¤APPDIR¤ to be used with one predefined policy working with all apps supposed to access their own directory.
(Using a current Windows Variable %APPDIR%* will not work, because it points to the \Comodo Internet Security directory.)
The request is also for a second Comodo variable ¤APPNAME¤, which would allow setting up a Predefined Policy allowing also the \AppData and \ProgramData paths as in %LOCALAPPDATA%\¤APPNAME¤* or in %PROGRAMDATA%\¤APPNAME¤*
The ¤APPNAME¤ variable alone would do a lot, since usually the install directory is, or at least contains the application’s name, so *\¤APPNAME¤* would probably work for most applications in a one predefined rule-set.
One Predefined Policy working immediately with most future applications! That would be pretty cool, no? These variables would also make the earlier request for install path in an editable input field in the pop-up alert at least less urgent, if not obsolete.
