Failed to update the virus signature database

at least some people are getting the download.
still no action here. i have avast installed temporarily. firewall is working fine. just cannot update AV (which is disabled right now)

Oh, it’s working for sure. This is the 5th or 6th installation of CIS 5 RC and it’s working, slowly, but working.

just wanted to say that i have the update problem since i installed the beta, tried 4.x again and theres the same problem now… updating seems impossible.

is there a solution for the problem? seems im not the only one getting this…

Can you describe in more detail what is happening?

i click update and the msg pops up that the update failed, i have this problem for about 1 or 2 weeks already

Please try a clean install of Comodo. After rebooting use this clean up tool to remove possible leftovers. Before uninstalling you can export your active configuration (Miscellaneous → Manage my configuration). You can import this configuration in the clean install.

that did not help…

any other solutions for the problem? i also tried to manually replace the bases.cav in safe mode but that doesnt solve the problem…

have you tired to replace it with the stock one I have uploaded in this thread? https://forums.comodo.com/beta-corner-cis/how-to-fix-the-update-issue-t60715.0.html

no i havent tried that one, gona do so asap and report back…

negative, same story with your file… why should it work with that file? isnt that the exact same that comes with the installation file? so if i do a clean install your file should already have been installed and failed.

please some other solutions than changing the bases file. if it doesnt work with 3 different ones, i doubt it will work with a 4th…

is the update adress in the screen shot correct?

that is correct. Are you running any proxy settings?

nope no proxy

so 6 pages of update problem reports and probably lots of other threads and no idea whats causing the problem nor a solution? very strange…

Have you done a packet capture to see if there is traffic going out the network interface?

no i have not, is this done with the tool that was linked some pages ago? i will do that, so you can help me further if you know if there is traffic going on or not?
because i have no desire to spend any more time on this problem if there is no real solution for it.

I will try to help and find out, but the biggest problem is it can’t be fixed unless dev’s know what’s causing this as they can’t replicate the issue, they need a system that has the problem, and a user that is willing to help them out in a probably remote session…

The capture link is here:
https://forums.comodo.com/guides-cis/how-to-use-wireshark-to-troubleshoot-network-issues-t59409.0.html

hm strange that it can not be reproduced… i would like to help fix this but my time is very limited so not sure if im the right person for this.
i also live in europe which could complicate things a bit more:O

Well we could try a few things, can you start with the packet capture to see what that brings?

yes i can do that in about 4-6hours
