Good day!

This sounds like incompatible memory modules or damaged memory modules… I advice you to go to the local computer store and see if the memory installed in your pc is the right memory for your computer and the best is to upgrade the memory to at least 512 MB RAM… that will make your pc run more smoothly…

Have a nice day!

i just put anther 256 in and went to crucial and it says i have 256 mbram installed and thats the right memory,on the side of the pc it gives some specs of the system says syncDRAM installed is pc133 sdram is that the same?

yes syncdram is sdram it means synchronous dynamic random access memory… Yes you have the right memory installed…

edit: but you also need to watch that code pcXXX this tells you if it is the right SDRAM for your pc… But I think you have the right one in your pc…

I do must say, this memory technology is rather old in the pc industry and I assume you are using an old compaq computer…

not sure how old it is but it came with xp home and i have the restore disc’s but i already restored it.

ooh, okey, I am pleased to read you have solved your problems…

I wish you a nice day further,

no i restored it and have 512 mbram in but i have the problem i was describing,i was just sayin i tried restoring but didnt work?

SO I understand you have 512 MB ram inside your pc, but your pc does not detect all of the installed memory, right? The bios says only half and when you logged in you only see 132 MB RAM, right?

…hmmmmm… :THNK…

  • Maybe the memory modules are damaged…
  • Maybe the bios is not functioning normally…
  • Maybe the grooves on your motherboard are damaged…
  • Maybe memory not installed correctly…
  • Maybe windows is damaged…

Solution: Go to the local pc store and analyze the problem… This kind of problems needs investigation on the pc it self… hard to solve through a forum…

If you know someone who know stuff about the hardware side of a pc, maybe he may find a solution for your problem…

But try to investigate if the above stated possible causes I stated are the source of your problems…
