First, let me say that I searched this board and could not find anything that matched my error.
Running Win 7, just installed Comodo backup and updated it.
I have no other backup software running.
Set up a backup of some user file as a test … that part worked.
I’m on as a User (Admin)
Attempted to perform a Registry backup (as per the App-home-page indicates)
Proceeded to the point where I entered the file name Test (and CB added the file ext) (that was Step 3 on that display)
I hit Next and the Other Settings window appeared… I did not check off anything there…that was Step 4…
Step 5 was also skipped as I was only testing the basics…I hit “Next”…
CB started Step 6 displaying the Date/time for the first record…and then the info initialization registry hives backup
and then a Windows error screen appeard with two options… attemp to find/fix the problem and close …or
close Comodo. Needless to say… it did not find nor fix any problems. The detail of the error is…

My Win7 is up to date as is Comodo…
There are zero logs in Comodo… so, nothing there to help.
Is the problem reproducible?
If so, we need the dump file from CBU.exe for analysis.
To get it, you need to reproduce the exact steps above , and when Windows error screen appears, you should go to “Task Manager”->Processes->CBU.exe, right click “Create dump file”.
If the dump file is too big, you can compress it and split it into parts less than 10Mb (usually 2 or 3 parts) and email the dump file parts to me.
First, thank you for getting back to me … I forgot to check this thread for a response… so, now I’m here.
Yes, the failure is there all the time and I did as you requested… it created a 90 mb CBU file and on this Win7-OS it has the builtin 7-zip routine so I compressed it down to a 30+ mb file but I have not had to split a file up in a large number of years… I’m thinking that I have to install a file splitter program which is no problem but my thought is this… if I email you three (maybe four) split files do you then need the same program on your system that I used to split the file… in order to get it back together again?
I used the built in zip compressor in Total Commander (a very easy to use file manager) to create a split zip file. You can download Total Commander at www.ghisler.com. You create the zip file like this:
Start Total Commander and navigate to the dump file.
Press Alt-F5 to start the creation of the zip file
Check “Multiple disk archive” and “ZIP” and choose a location for the zip file
In the Split dialog box you can choose a predefined split size or manually type “9.5 MB” or whatever file size you want.
