Did you download the 64bit GUI.exe?
This is the one that you should use because you have Windows 7 64 and it should be ran from the \Program Files\Comodo\Comodo Backup folder
Thanks
Emanuel,
sorry can you resend 64 bit GUI as the link does not work (I downloaded both tried them and after they didn’t seem to work I deleted them)
thanks
Try now please.
Emanuel
tried it, thanks,
however it still came back with a ‘Recovery failed with code 14 (image corrupted)’ message
It looks like to only viable option to determine the cause is to take look at the backup file.
I need the first 100MB and last 100MB from the backup file.
Please use this split file tool to split the backup file.
First split at 104857600 bytes (100MB), upload the first (smaller) piece to https://ccloud.com (you can create free account).
Then split again at 7956135936 bytes (~7588MB. You said your backup was 7,872,064 KB in size). Upload the second (smaller) piece to https://ccloud.com
Share the two files and post or email me the download links. Also, please mention the exact size in bytes of the backup.
Thanks
Thank you for the 2 splits.
Here are the results of the analysis:
Total size of the data backed up is ~40,36 GB
Size of the backup is ~7,5GB
The data backed up is already compressed (since they are mostly jpg pictures) so the compression rate is probably around 98%-99% of the original size. This means that the backup size should have been around 39,8GB.
Since the backup size is only 7,5GB (instead of ~39,8GB), this means that only ~19% of data was actually backed up.
This can happen if the connection to the backup destination is unexpectedly aborted.
For example: network fail during backup, if destination is network or external harddisk unplugged during backup, if destination was an external.
Another cause might be power failure during backup.
In all situations when backups are unexpectedly aborted except power failure during backup, CBU.exe would have returned an error.
In conclusion, since only ~19% of the data was backed up, only ~19% of the original data is recoverable.
Thanks
Thanks Emanuel
looks like i’m stuffed then :‘( :’(
