Error: 0x80072f0d - The certificate authority is invalid or incorrect

I receive the following error when trying to update Comodo: Error: 0x80072f0d - The certificate authority is invalid or incorrect

Oddly enough, I tried to uninstall it one day. Complete disaster. I ended up having to wipe my entire system and restore from backup. A backup which was several months old which meant at restore I had an older version (pre v10) of CIS. It was working fine. Then I upgraded again, and begin getting the same error again: Error: 0x80072f0d - The certificate authority is invalid or incorrect

Current Version 10.2.0.6526
Database Version 28739

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

BTW, I’m running Windows 10 Pro x64

Intel Core i7-7700HQ @ 2.8Ghz
16 GB Ram

I feel like a Windows update may have broken this. But I’m not sure.

Capture

Please do following, try to download following URL in Internet Explorer:

https://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/1000/partners/cispremium_installer_10299_7b.exe

See if you encounter any error.

Thanks

Umesh:

FYI, I’m an IT professional so you can speak more technically if that helps speed things up. I was able to download using IE with no issue. You didn’t say install it however. Is your intent to have me install? If it also helps I run MalwareBytes Premium (not sure if that causes any issues with CIS).

Thank you.

Ok.
Checking two things:

  • Do you have issue with https in general as root cert may be missing, it’s seems that’s not the case.

Next, please check if download setup is treated signed valid or not in your system. Right click and check “Digital Signatures” tab and select each certificate “Details”.

I thought that might be what you were checking. I did that already as well (thinking it was a cert issue). As you requested, I checked again. Also no https issues with any sites. I checked the digital sigs on the EXE and they all come back OK.

Ok, thanks.
We have logged an internal ticket and team will get back.

Thank you, standing by.
