Does Virtual Desktop isolates browser from OS?

Hello!

I’m interested if the Virtual Desktop be used for banking? As I understand the virtual environment for banking must be isolated from the OS in case if there’s some malicious activity. As it’s written in help Virtual Desktop does the opposite thing: it protects the OS from possible infection or other problems inside the Virtual Desktop. I’m interested in opposite thing - Virtual Desktop protected from the OS in case OS is infected for instance.

So can the Virtual Desktop be isolated from OS and used for activities like banking?
