Does the AV Virus Need to be Updated?

Hi,

I notice that the Anti Virus Database gets updated very often, which is a good thing so thankyou for constantly providing us with more security.

However my question is:

Do we only need an updated database when we are going to run a scan?

Or does the database affect other things like the running of Comodo in general?

Because if it is the first, then I can just manually update my database before I run a scan, and therefore turn automatic updates off. This would be of an advantage to me, as updates often tend to hog my P.C due to certain software bugs that haven’t been fixed yet.

An Antivirus depends on its database for everything it can detect. The database needs to be updated often with the latest threats so the AV can detect it.

Thanks so the AV is running in real-time? Meaning it would be beneficial to have it updated whenever a new database is released.
