Does flashing the BIOS needs a working battery?

Does flashing the BIOS needs a working battery?

I have a BIOS upgrade for my system on the PC Manufacturer site & the procedure to install it. The battery on the system is finished so I use the system with power cord.

But when I try to flash BIOS it mentions battery is not plugged, does flashing BIOS needs working battery?

Its a Dell XPS M140 Laptop.

Hi Naren,
I have split your post off to its own topic a renamed it more appropriate to the subject matter.

In regards to your matter, it does appear as if some Dell laptops have this issue as seen here.

I created ms dos bootable usb from the above site.

I dont know how to flash the bios with this?

My bios file is both an executable & dos. It is MX51_A04

Can anyone help me how to flash bios with the usb? I dont know what command to use & if bios file need to be copied in the usb.

XP 32 Bits Home Edition SP3

I flashed the bios accidently. It was so easy.

I copied the bios file in the ms dos bootable usb.

After restart & in ms dos at prompt c I was trying so many things coz I didn’t knew what command to use.

Then at c prompt I simply tried bios file i.e MX51_A04 & everything went smooth & in few secs bios was updated successfully.

Glad to hear all is well and your update was successful.
Persistence pays.

ThankYou.
