The title says it all
Do i really need to run an antivirus program if i use BOClean?
BOClean stops malware from running, are viruses classed as malware?
MALicious softWARE by definition should also includes viruses, shouldn’t it?
Confused!?
Cheers
hi (:WAV)
as far as i know, you definitely still need an AV instead of BOclean only.
you can try to open CBO menu and click “covered malware”, and you’ll see, it doesn’t cover any virus/worm. as for definition of malware , i think you’re ■■■■ right, but there’s no single cure for all disease.i;ve heard that after CAVS out of beta phase, comodo will combine CAVS with BOclean. and THAT’s what we call ANTIMALWARE.
Welcome to the Comodo forums mungushume!
I’ll reiterate the advise above, BOClean is a fail safe last line of defense that should be used by most with an AV.
IMHO Eset’s NOD32 is a better choice for an AV. It is completely compatible with Comodo and BOClean, and is light on its feet. I just re registered for another two years. If you’re looking for a free AV then the Comodo AV is your best bet. I installed it on my daughters computer and it’s great.
Glad CAVS is working OK for you but it is in Beta, and I seem to remember on a post here from the developers that it should only be used for testing and not on a main computer.
Mike, As I mentioned, it’s on my Daughters computer. She is pretty much computer illiterate, and only uses the Web for kids sites and an occasional search and e-mail. I actually had to disable the HIPS because she couldn’t handle the pop-ups. I liked what I saw though when I fooled around with it. She hasn’t encountered and problems with it thus far.
