I have configured my NIC have a Preferred DNS server of 192.168.1.1, so that my router does the name lookup. The router has two DNS servers configured, as supplied by my ISP.
I also have an alternative DNS server of 4.2.2.2, in case my ISP DNS servers are temporarily down (happens occasionally).
I notice that most applications that connect now ask if I want to allow connection to 4.2.2.2 dns port. Does this indicate that something is wrong with my DNS configuration (as I would expect outbound lookups via 192.168.1.1, not 4.2.2.2)?
