Hello, and thanks for your time. ive been having some teething problems with the new version 3, defense+. when i use ccleaner it would allow me to analyze, but wouldnt allow me to use the clean function. so i deactivated it to confirm that was the offender.now i know what the problem is, i would like to reactivate it to see if i can find a workaround, but cant seem to switch it back on. any advise welcome.
p.s. when stopping me from using ccleaner i kept getting an error message saying “inetcpl.cpl, access to memory denied”. thats not the exact message, but close enough. thanks again, techdunce
inetcpl.cpl is the internet properties for IE or the whole machine for that matter. If you go to Start>Run and type that in then hit enter it will open up the Internet properties for IE. Is the alert coming from Windows or from CFP3?

ccleaner cleans fine for me on Vista Ultimate. To use it, you probably need to make it a trusted application in Defense+ because of the things it accesses. Go to Defense+/Advanced/Computer Security Policies. If you find an entry for ccleaner, go to edit and select “trusted application”. Or add it as a trusted application if not already there.
hello and thanks for the replies. jasper, its a windows error message, but with defense+ deactivated all works well.
sded, i dont understand the options when i right click it in security policies. im pretty good with AV, AS and so forth but firewalls always beat me, but again, i need to reactivate defense+ first. thanks again, techdunce
Try this mate,
1 go to summary on main page
2 In pro active defence click on [switch to installation mode]
3 Run ccleaner
4 If all is ok you should get several pop ups saying ccleaner is about to change file x
5 Allow these
6 pro active defence should revert back to clean pc mode after about 5 mins.
good luck Matty
nice one riggers, (matty). will give it a go, but first, i still cant reactivate defense+.for now at least, that issue needs sorting before i can try anything else.no matter what i do, it still shows “inactive”. thanks again, techdunce
You could try diagnostics in miscellaneous.
That did the trick for me, thanks.
hello again rigger. diagnostics hasnt done anything for me, but i find it hard to believe there is no easy way of reactivating defense+. thanks again, techdunce
hello, just a quick update for those who showed interest. uninstalled version 3,reinstalled, and have no significant problems so far. :BNC will post back if issue returns, but in the meantime, thanks to all for replies. techdunce
