Defective Comodo installation blocks its own error report [NBZ]

The bug/issue

  1. What you did:
With Firewal at Block All and A.V. and Defence+ Disabled I installed
    Digiguide v. 8.4 Build 1125
I put Comodo back to normal and started using DigiGuide.
Whilst I was changing the TV channel preferences Comodo hit an error.

COMODO left an Error Report and a request that I describe what I was doing.
I described details as requested and Sent.

  1. What actually happened or you actually saw:
    You refused to send.
You required that I install and associate an email programme via Default Programs Control Panel.
Comodo does seem to have a Default Programs available to give me a Control Panel option.

Guessing you got the order wrong I tried Windows Control Panel,
and found therein a Default Programs option - but that got me nowhere.
How am I expected to associate my email GMAIL account which is accessed by Firefox ?

  1. What you expected to happen or see:
I expected the report and my description to be sent automatically.
Other applications seem to do that.

  2. How you tried to fix it & what happened:
    I launched Firefox and logged into Gmail and started to compose a message;
I selected Error report / my description and tried to select and copy my description,
but your “install and associate an email” demand took precedence,
hence I was unable copy the extensive description into my paste buffer.
I chose to CLOSE the “install and associate an email” so I could copy my description,
but unfortunately you closed in the same instant, even though it was a different window.
My only mistake was that I failed to FIRSTLY put the Comodo email address as the destination for my email,
and after all the above fiasco the email address was no longer available.

  3. If its an application compatibility problem have you tried the application fixes here?:
I could not think of anything else to do, so I started this topic

  4. Details & exact version of any application (execpt CIS) involved with download link:
I was using Digiguide v. 8.4 Build 1125, downloaded from
    http://accounts.digiguide.tv/do_getsetup.asp?user=******&userproduct=******&code=*********
(N.B. I have concealed digits which I believe correspond to my licence/subscription)

  5. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen:
    I un-installed DigiGuide and then re-installed
and this time I changed my preferences without any problems.

  6. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons):
    No screenshots taken
    No AV events
No Firewall Events since 27th February
    Defense+ event attached sshot-209.gif
    N.B.
    At 3/6/2011 8:43:40 p.m. I had re-enabled Comodo,
and it saw the brand new Digiguide.exe and found it safe,
half an hour later Comodo crashed.
At 3/7/2011 8:13:07 I was using Digiguide with no problems,
but there were so many unwanted default “favourites” I gave up “un-friending” them,
and at 12:40:02 I un-installed and that launched Firefox so I could give Digiguide my reason.
Since then I have installed Digiguide and it is again declared safe, and there have been no problems.

I have exported config and attached as Comodo.cfgx
I have also attached the following :-
the original error file cfp.zip
Defense+ event log sshot-209.gif
Active Process List sshot-210.gif and sshot-211.gif

Your set-up

  1. CIS version, AV database version & configuration used:
As per sshot-211.gif - pity that info CANNOT be selected and copied to paste buffer.

  2. a) Have you updated (without uninstall) from CIS 3 or 4:
No, it was a clean install

  3. Have you imported a config from a previous version of CIS:
    No.

  4. Have you made any other major changes to the default config? (eg ticked ‘block all unknown requests’, other egs here.):
    No.

  5. Defense+, Sandbox, Firewall & AV security levels:
    D+= Safe , Sandbox= disabled, Firewall = Safe , AV = Stateful
    Game mode NOT selected

  6. OS version, service pack, number of bits, UAC setting, & account type:
Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1, 64 BIT, UAC OFF, Usual Administrator.

  7. Other security and utility software installed:
    No other security
APC Battery support UPS with monitoring software to invoke Hibernate on low battery level.

  8. Virtual machine used (Please do NOT use Virtual box):
    None

Why do you not determine my email account when installing Comodo.
I think that was your practice with version 3.???

Why can you not simply request my email address as part of my report, and then send the report direct without involving emails ?

ALSO PLEASE FIX THE WEB-SITE ERROR HANDLING
DO NOT DISCARD ALL MY TYPING JUST BECAUSE I ATTACHED A FILE YOU REFUSE TO ACCEPT.

WHAT A DOZY WEB-SITE - YOU HAVER JUST OBJECTED TO ZIPZ AND THEN :-

  1. DISCARDED ALL MY GIF ATTACHMENTS AND THE CONFIG_CFGX.ZIPZ;
  2. PRESERVED MY TEXT AND ONE SOLITARY CFP.ZIP FILE SO I COULD SUBMIT AGAIN;
  3. D I S C A R D E D EVERYTHING BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED ! ! !

Fortunately I was prepared with a copy in my paste buffer

Now added the original GIF that got thrown away, and trying your original unzipped CFGX

YOU WENT APE ON THAT ALSO
FINAL ATTEMPT - I have altered the extension to TXT

We would very much appreciate it if you would edit your first post to create an issue report in line with the bug forum guidelines and format here. You can copy and paste the format from this topic.

To understand the reasons why we ask you to follow these guidelines please see below.

WHY WE ASK YOU TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES
Bugs/issues can be impossible or very time consuming to fix if developers don’t have enough information to reproduce them. Since CIS is free, development time is limited. So if you want your issue fixed, please use the format below to describe it.

To avoid clutter, issues not described in the format below your post will not be moved to the ‘moderator verified’ issues topic. This means that the developers may not look at it.

Best wishes and many thanks in anticipation

Dennis

This is my THIRD ATTEMPT

My last attempt this forum trashed because I attempted to send you the CRASH.DMP,
and you erased my post.

Third and final time :-
I was deselecting unwanted TV channels from a new installation of Digiguide,
and CFP did a whoopsie and CFP.exe terminated

Only CFP.ZIP now attached.

Alan
