"CTF Loader" crashes when opening Virtual Desktop [M2201]

A. THE BUG/ISSUE
Can you reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:
Consistently able to reproduce, both on my Laptop with latest CIS and desktop with latest Firewall.
If you can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what you did & what happened:
Open Virtual Desktop. During the loading phase, CTF Loader, which is sandboxed, stops working.
One or two sentences explaining what actually happened:
CTF Loader crashes when loading Virtual Desktop.
One or two sentences explaining what you expected to happen:
No crash of CTF Loader when loading Virtual Desktop.
If a software compatibility problem have you tried the advice to make programs work with CIS?:
Not applicable
Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version:
None.
Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how you tried to fix it etc:
I use proactive config, which may have caused this, but switching back to internet security config still results in CTF Loader crash.

B. YOUR SETUP
Exact CIS version & configuration:
10.0.0.6092, proactive config.
Modules enabled & level:
All enabled except for HIPS pop-ups.
Have you made any other changes to the default config? (egs here.):
Yes. Do not virtualize access to the Downloads folder has been disabled. Firewall is set to block all. Do not show pop-up alerts are enabled, including "Do not show privilege elevation alerts - run isolated.
Have you updated (without uninstall) from CIS 5, 6 or 7?:
No, but I did update from CIS 8.4.0 something to 10.0.0.6092
If so, have you tried a a a clean reinstall - if not please do?:
No
Have you imported a config from a previous version of CIS:
No
if so, have you tried a standard config - if not please do:
Yes, internet security config also results in CTF crash, haven’t tested Firewall config yet however.
OS version, SP, 32/64 bit, UAC setting, account type, V.Machine used:
64-Bit, Administrator account, Windows 10 (latest stable build, not Creator’s update) default UAC, Laptop computer (real system, not Virtual Machine).
Other security/s’box software a) currently installed b) installed since OS, including initial trial security software included with system:
No additional real-time security is installed. Malwarebytes AntiMalware for on-demand scanning is installed. This is a clean install of Windows 10 so no traces of trial security software exists that I know of.

Attached is the picture of this CTF Loader crashing.

Please check this issue again when next build is released. Thanks.

Will do. Once update is released, I will uninstall, delete all folders and registry keys that I can find, and reinstall. Then I will check if this issue exists on Creator’s Update as well.

Please check again with Comodo Internet Security v10.0.1.6209 thanks.

The bug still persists in v10.1 after uninstalling, deleting folders and registry entries of CIS, and reinstalling on my laptop, which does not have Creator’s Update.

On my Desktop with Windows 10 Creator’s update with a clean install of CIS, I also got a CTF Loader crash, although it was not in the Virtual Kiosk. Virtual Kiosk is really slow on Creator’s update, but not on my laptop.

Attached is the image of CTF Loader crashing on laptop.

EDIT: these are default settings of CIS (Internet Security Config, only things changed are do not show widget and do not show welcome screen at startup.

get ProcDump : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx
launch Virtual Desktop
provide dumps

Can’t seem to find the dumps, it says dump count not reached

EDIT: Used procdump 64 and getting some dumps as my system is 64 bit, will post dumps for both my laptop and desktop

Got the dumps for desktop and laptop, now gotta upload them somewhere, will post the links once uploading is complete.

Here are the links:

Reported. Thanks.

A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)
Can you reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:

Comodo virtual Kiosk gives out a “hidden error” in windows and needs a workaround (one time only, then it works).
I have noticed that when I launch the Virtual Kiosk first time it ‘freezes’… and after I press CTRL-ALT-DEL and Launch Task Manager
I see that a WerFault child process was spawned from Kiosk process… with no error displayed on screen… while the Virtual Desktop remained
blank/frozen.
Then I terminated Werfault.exe and ctfmon.exe from child processes and then Virtual Kiosk ran normally. Even in subsequent tries, no further issues.

If you can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what you did & what happened:

1:Launch Virtual Desktop and if it freezes see below.
2:CTRL-ALT-DEL → Task Manager
3:Use Process Hacker or similar and you will see the child process ctfmon.exe spawned from virtkiosk, exe process
4. Terminate werfault.exe and cftmon.exe child processes
5. Go back and Virtual Desktop will continue to run normally.

One or two sentences explaining what actually happened:

See above.

One or two sentences explaining what you expected to happen:

I expect the Virtual Desktop to run correctly from first time.
Note: i do have English, Romanian and Chinese keyboards installed in Locale

If a software compatibility problem have you tried the advice to make programs work with CIS?:

N/A

Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version:

I don’t think so.

Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how you tried to fix it etc:

I just tried and it worked as i mentioned above

B. YOUR SETUP

CIS 10.0.1.6209, slightly modified Internet Security config

Modules enabled & level. D+/HIPS, Autosandbox/BBlocker, Firewall, & AV:

Website filtering, VirusScope, Auto-Containment, Firewall, Antivirus

Have you made any other changes to the default config? (egs here.):

Unchecked PUPs scanning and archive scanning, unchecked cloud, increased heuristic scanning to low (from none),
tweaked Firewall a little bit and set it to Training mode

Have you updated (without uninstall) from CIS 5, 6 or 7?:
No.
if so, have you tried a a a clean reinstall - if not please do?:
N/A

N/A

OS version, SP, 32/64 bit, UAC setting, account type, V.Machine used:

I think it is the same issue as this one https://forums.comodo.com/format-verified-issue-reports-cis/ctf-loader-crashes-when-opening-virtual-desktop-m2201-t118671.0.html and side affect I have noticed is major slowdown within virtual desktop. But thanks for the report using the required format. :-TU

Please check with version 10.0.1.6223 thanks.
