I installed the firewall only because I have Kaspersky Antivirus installed already. Worked okay for a couple days. On the third day while I just allow the firewall to let a program to run. I start to lose control of my computer. (No, that program that I allow firewall to pass is a database program newly written by myself, therefore cannot be a virus). I suddenly have no user access rights. User level too low that I can’t even reboot. Hard reboot multiple times with no use. The only way to fix is to boot in safe mode and uninstall Comodo firewall.
Don’t why but I am not going to re-install anytime soon. Just to let you guys know there is such a problem.
This is truely odd. I have no initial clue what could have happened. I am just asking to see if I can get a picture of what may have happened.
Did you have Defense + working in CIS?
Does Kaspersky AV have a some extra protection in the from a Hostbased Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) like D+ ? Is there anything in the Kaspersky logs that may point a finger toward this crash?
Hello crawler,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with CIS.
This sounds a bit like there got some system application blocked by Defense+
I don’t think the Firewall can cause this.
Can you explain a bit more about your system setup, and would it be possible that there got something “blocked” ?
Yes, I did turn on Defense+ and yes it is quite odd to see this happen. I ain’t sure if it is a conflict between Kaspersky AV (not the full suite version) or not 'cos I installed Comodo in my computer at work which run AVG and have no problem.
I also not too sure if it has anything to do with Boot Camp. The computer I used at home is an Intel iMac dual boot XP using Boot Camp.
Quickest way to test would be to install, boot in safe-mode, start the CIS GUI and set D+ to Training-Mode
If that does not work, crash boot and set it to "Permanently disabled in D+ Settings. If it then boots it’s conflicting with something else on the system.
