CPM - still Beta?

Having read a fairly favourable recommendation of the product in the latest edition of Web User magazine (Issue 255) I thought this was just what I needed as I am about to upgrade from XP to Windows 7 and CPM would mean that I wouldn’t have to turn the house upside down trying to find all the installation CDs!

How wrong I was.

Installed the programme and on running it not a single program (128 recognised) was monitored. So came here and looked at the forum and have the distinct impression that this s/w is still a beta (and that would be stretching it) and very much a work in progress.

Now how do I get to Remove Program to get this off my system?

Thoughts of those more knowledgable in CPM most welcome

i think you missed how cpm works. you have to have cpm installed before other programs for cpm to monitor them. cpm monitors a setup and records what files are created and where they are put. when you uninstall a that program cpm has a set list of files and where they are located so it can remove them. i think they will later implement a module that removes traces of uninstalled programs that are installed before cpm like revo uninstaller but there is no news of any such module as of now.

A couple of ways, heres one 1) open CPM 2) click on "program" 3) click on the program you want to uninstall (in this case, click on Comodo Program Manager) 4) Click on "uninstall" 5) Just follow what the screen says from there :)

Here's how to use it (at least the way I use it, I'm sure there are other ways too) 1) Installed CPM and "Restart the computer" 2) After CPM is installed, find any software you want monitiored 3) Right click on the software installer and click on "Install and Monitor setup using CPM 4) Now install that software, just like you normally would 5) Done, but if you want to check to see if CPM is really monitoring it, open CPM and click on "Programs" Look for that software and to the right of it. You'll see the word "YES" <--That mean it's being monitored

To uninstall, the software that was monitored

  1. Open CPM
  2. Click on “Programs”
  3. Click on the monitored software
  4. click on “uninstall”
  5. choose uninstall using CPM <—something like that
  6. assuming you want to remove EVERYTHING, make sure there’s checkmarks are on the folders, files and registry
