Hey
I have the same problem now. i have use this firewall in about 1 month.
and i have no problem before now.
when i use firefox to goto the internet i will say site not found and i have to refresh 3-4 times before the site are there and it is very slow.
but if i set firewall to allow all. it all work fine.
other times the firewall works fine.
i have not set any new rules. it just begin for about 4 days ago.
Firefox is set to “allow all activities for this application”
and when it trying goto a site. i can’t get firewall open it is like it is freeze until firefox says. “site not found” so can i open firewall again
i have static ip and a router.
the last log says
Inbound Policy Violation (Access Denied, ICMP = PORT UNREACHABLE)
Protocol: ICMP Incoming
Source: ip adr.
Destination : my machine ip.
Message: PORT UNREACHABLE
i hope you can find a solution to this so i can get it work like before where it work fine.
Please post your log file of about 1hour worth of traffic. feel free to edit the same ip with a unique explicative name.
It would be useful to know what Security software you are running (antivirus, hips, spyware detectors, and so on).
Please confirm this issue is happening only when CPF is set to custom mode.
Also take a screenshot of your network rules .
Please delete your firefox rule and create it anew.
i have try to delete firefox rules many times. i have also try to reinstall firewall 4 times now.
so it works fine in about 1-5 hours and then it is the same again
and it only when i have firewall on custom it doing it. as soon i set it to allow all there are no problem.
now i have turn off firewall else my internet is very slow.
i use Kaspersky Antuvirus, CounterSpy and peerguardian
have you tried the same websites with internet explorer. I once had a similar problem which turned out to be nothing to do with CFP. My firefox profile had become corrupt.
If it is a corrupt FF profile it can be fixed fairly easily I think, though I suspect you may have to re-install your extensions afterwards, can’t remember as it was a while ago I had to do it but I will find out.
i have just try again with ie
i cant open firewall when it is trying go to the site
with “site not found” it is about 2½ hours ago last time.
it come and goes. so when it are there i turn the firewall off and go on
if it continues i will go back to my old firewall that works fine “Sygate Firewall”
but right now firefox works fine with firewall on. but when it is make trouble again is not good to know
i try that and hope for the best
else i am back here
thx
lol back again
now it is slow again. normal speed with firewall off
so that did not help me. sry
and i have make a Trusted network. and the file is read only
You could try adding all CPF files to KAV safe list or disable the web antivirus component in KAV.
Another user which had a different problem with KAV reported that v7.125 solved it.
Anyway there is no gurantee that these things will work.
i have now uninstall cpf and kaspersky
then i have installet the new kaspersky and then cpf
right now it works just fine with normal speed
so i hope it just was that. or i will be back again
thx alot m8
hmm 10 min later i get “site not found” with cpf on and when i turn it off it works fine again
it was the same both on firefox and ie.
i hope you have a try more or i have to change firewall
If you did try to add all CPF files to KAV safe list and you disabled the web antivirus component in KAV then there would be hardly anything left to do.
You could try disabling both Counterspy and KAV without uninstalling them and if the issue is not happening you coud try to enable one of them at time. When the next SP for vista will be out there will be a likely chance that CPF an KAV will work along. MS is planning an update to let security softwares gain a great deal of control on the OS lessening the chance of conflicts like the one you are having.
The only thing to go for the other windows relases is to choose a set of softwares that complement each other well without requiring to access the same OS internal functions with high privileges.
