Configuration settings?? [Solved]

Good evening,

I was just exploring some posts on this forum and ran into one explaining what the different configuration settings are and how they are used: https://forums.comodo.com/firewall_help/firewall_security_configuration_settings-t29576.0.html

Now I am really confused as to what my actual configuration setting should be set at. ???

Currently I am running a Compaq Presario AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3300+, 2411MHz/1.93 GBs RAM, running Windows Xp Home, SP3., with IE7.

I use Avast as my antivirus and for my firewall I am using CFP version 3.5.55810.432 with both my Network Defense and Proactive Defense set to ‘safe’.

Listed under ‘Configurations’ are six choices: Optimum, Network, Internet, Proactive, Antivirus and Firewall Security. I had previously had it set on ‘Optimum’ but now I am wondering if I should put it on ‘Proactive’. :o

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Since it’s new, I’m a little confused by this also. I changed it and all my custom rules were gone. Fortunately, when I changed it back to Optimum my rules returned.

huh ???
i only have 4 config choices.
COMODO-firewall security
COMODO-internet security
COMODO-proactive security
COMODO-antivirus security

proactive security is the strongest protection. you can see all of the protection option ticked on
Defense+/advance/defense+ settings/monitor settings
and some other different setting. :Beer

…so what’s Optimum?

that is the config in use by newly updated Firewall by default. right now.

Optimum is the imported configuration

(Proactive is currently the strongest but i would recommend using Internet)

Becuase it’s the most user friendly option

Optimum - Imported Configuration from previous
Internet - Defualt Settings (Fresh Installation Configurations)
Proactive - The Most Secure And Yet Most Alerts Appear
Antivirus - Disables Firewall
Firewall - Disabled AntiVirus
