Comodo will sometimes FREEZE the entire system

Hi all,

I am currently facing a critical issue where my system becomes completely unresponsive when “Microsoft Compatibility Telemetry” (CompatTelRunner.exe) runs. Additionally, the system also freezes during periods of high disk usage. This system freeze requires a hard reboot to recover and it only happens when CIS is running. Once I exit CIS, the whole system is back to normal.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues, or are there known compatibility issues between CIS and these conditions?

Thank you!

You running HIPS in Paranoid mode?

I have this issue with HIPS in Paranoid when set to Verbose warnings (and not for example set to block-all (which was the workaround) whenever an application tries to access SYSTEM MEMORY or MONITOR.

By using block all I need to manually go into the hips settings and add the permissions there as well as have all applications set to “block” on memory/process access by default and add any exceptions as rules to them, otherwise for example Chrome will also freeze the entire system, and basically any game.

Hi, I am running HIPS in Safe mode, and there is NO HIPS events when the entire system is frozen
My HIPS settings:
QQ20240918-150722

Yes, that is basically same issue I have whenever HIPS freeze the computer there will be no signs of anything having happened when the computer froze.

Try setting “Do not show popup alerts” and set it to BLOCK Requests, then launch the ‘freezing’ application again and you should see the “alert” in the log file for Comodo, there it will probably be something requesting Memory/Process access which should help narrow down the issues.

I don’t get HIPS alert for Memory/Process access.
Sometimes Windows updates can also cause freezes
