comodo virtual desktop not loading

I have windows 10 Home 22H2 OS build 19045.4894, CIS Version 12.2.2.8012 database ver 37148. when I click on Virtual Desktop in the CIS UI , a black box popups saying “Virtual Desktop loading” but nothing happens. I tried to delete virtkiosk.exe but even if I try to change the permission to administrator instead of system I still cannot delete it.

I do not wish to uninstall comodo 8012, as I understand from the series of summaries I get from Comodo, users who have installed comodo 2025 have stated of errors of certificate being revoked, and other files not being installed or found. I am hoping that this issue will be resolved in the new year, so that I can install the new version. But I will still keep the 8012 until this is fixed. Is there a work around for virtual desktop issue. please give details.

Hi Grag11 !

Did he install the necessary add-ons the first time you used the Virtual Desktop?

Hi grail11,

Thank you for reporting.
Virtual desktop supposed to run without any issue, are you using any other security sofware other than CIS ?
May i know your CIS theme ? (Goto CIS setting → General → Theme)

Thanks

For me, it was quite the opposite…

Comodo CIS Pro no longer worked because of the Certificate problem, but I could launch virtkiosk.exe by hand from the C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security folder and the Virtual Desktop would launch…

So it looks like virtkiosk.exe didn’t have a Certificate problem itself.

Hi Overclocker-001,

Thank you for the information.
We will test and update you.

Thanks

the theme is Arcadia Theme. The other security is Comodo Dome Shield and Malwarebytes. Funny thing Secure Shopping use to not work for a while, now it is working but not the virutal desktop. No Add-ons were installed on the first install for the Virtual Desktop. What would the add-ons be and where could I find them; how to download and install them if virtual desktop not loading at all. Also how does one log out when done posting a question from this site? thanks for your response.

Hi grail11,

Thank you for reporting.
We do not recommend customers to use several security softwares simultaneously as it causes compatibility issues.
Kindly disable/uninstall other security softwares and check.

Thanks

Comodo CIS Pro has always worked with other security software on my PC for years and years.

That’s only why I chose it and why people I know chose it too.

There are a number of reasons, including the fact that it lacks a few functions or that some of them are obsolete.

What’s more, from the outset, Malwarebytes was designed as a complement to antivirus software, and is therefore intended for that purpose.

For all intents and purposes, I should point out that I whitelist the Comodo folders in Malwarebytes and the Malwarebytes folders in Comodo.

how, I do not have the paid version of Malwarebytes. If you could provide how in comodo and malwarebyes, I would appreciate very much

It’s not complicated: just whitelist all Comodo folders in Malwarebytes.

All of them, not just the files in the Program folder …

And do the same with Comodo. (inversely)

It’s worked perfectly for years.

Until Comodo CIS version 2025.

But then, this one doesn’t need anyone to crash completely… It already doesn’t work by itself!

Just look at the number of messages recommending reverting to the old version…

can you tell me what are the add-ons to install for Virtual Desktop. Where can they be download, I have uninstalled Malwarebytes and Virtual Desktop still does not load. I just see the screen saying Virtual Desktop is loading and the circle keeps turning.

What happens when you click virtkiosk.exe in the directory C:\Program\ (i.e. the installation directory of cis)?

Just to try: What about if installing silverlight?
Can you start a program virtually?

Do you realize that Comodo, already quite obsolete in its own right, is basing its security strategy (I call it containment) on Silverlight, which is itself more than largely obsolete?

Silverlight has been abandoned by Microsoft since … since 2019!
(end of support 2021 Silverlight 5 - Microsoft Lifecycle | Microsoft Learn)

No need to look for patches since then…

6 years later, Silverlight has not been replaced in Comodo CIS. Which means that the product is no longer evolving…

  • I couldn’t understand what you asked me.

Just to try: What about if installing silverlight?

  • I will not test with Silverlight because it is a software discontinued by Microsoft.

Can you start a program virtually?

  • I can start Word, Excel and others, but I can’t open the one I mentioned in the forum.

I completely agree with you.

Trying to fix a problem by creating another problem will not be successful.

What needs to happen is for COMODO to fix the problem.

In several other topics, people have already reported this bug, but it has not been fixed yet.

I didn’t ask you.

I know that. Therefore “try”. Some programs still need silverlight.

Hi Prodex :vulcan_salute:

I hope you’re well.

Yes, but that’s the mistake… The need to hold your great-grandmother by the hand won’t help you roller skate. :roller_coaster: :roller_skate:

“Thank you” for your answer!

CIS 8162, Windows 11 are up to date!

You may guess my answer to this message/question!

By the way, why don’t I have none of all the problems discussed here?
What do I know what some people do with their PCs.
I don’t need Silverlight. I don’t use programs from strange corners just to save 2 cents. CIS runs smoothly, including my virtual desktop. That’s why I don’t need a great-grandma. Never had any problems with viruses, ransomware, rootkits, Trojans, etc. on any PC, laptop. And there were many, always with Comodo, always worked and always works reliably with great protection. You won’t find any questions from me here either, but maybe one or two, but they have been answered or solved since our great-grandmother’s time. Without long troubleshooting and discussions. Have fun troubleshooting.

Even if I accept the installation by clicking the yes button, it still doesn’t work.

A comment that may help you. When I installed CIS on the machine, as soon as I formatted my computer, this virtual desktop functionality worked normally.

Then it stopped working.
