If you run the internal updater, it essentially uninstalls the old version and then installs the new one. You have to set it up all over again (unless you just used it at the default settings). You will also lose all of your previous backups, so I would suggest making a copy of them if it’s important to you.
I really like it. I think most of the trouble some people have with it is that they don’t take the time to set it up for their particular needs. Most complaints I’ve read about could have been avoided if they took the time to go through the settings.
I had been using TuneUp Utilities before I started using CSC and I find CSC to be a lot more thorough (especially CRC). It is kind of aggressive, but with careful setup, I haven’t had any problems with its operation. Most of my comments were about the GUI or the setups. As far as operation, I’ve had no problems what-so-ever.
I’m getting to like it as much as I like CIS. Great product!
I like the fact that it gets application list updates often, and it does a good job of cleaning a PC without damage. IMO its GUI is good, and the CSC team works hard to make a great product. I can tell that its going to get better with time ;D and i cant wait for the Defrager.
The new gui looks awsome and real modern, maybe a bit ahead of its time… ;)… I like how everything is presented in steps and I like the user friendly warning dialogs… still there is some incompatibility with some programs like security programs as AVG… when using CSC the resident shield of AVG goes crazy… I also would welcome a registry defragmenter, a disk defragmenter and more usable information about the stuff that is found… Other than that, I like the new Comodo system cleaner!
It’s a really, really nice program. Just some problems for me:
Repeated error message when updating database (because I lack some Windows program, I think it’s grpconv.exe if I remember correctly), I have to click OK about 30 times which is very annoying.
Database updates seem to overwrite my settings, so I’ve decided to block CSC from Internet contact (with CIS).
GUI is simply too slow for my PC (Windows XP, 1.8 GHz, 1.2 GB RAM).
I don’t like that CSC tries to update as soon as I’ve started it, because this prevents me from scanning/cleaning directly upon start. I guess blocking CSC from Internet contact will fix this…
CS2 2 is a real winner. After using CCleaner for few years, Trying out other tuneup utilities, C2C 2 is the best yet. Like it as much as I like CIS. Great GUI, Gets Application Updates often, Very safe & thorough … And you also have a fantastic CSC Team of developers/leaders that release program updates often, and have excellent communication skills here when it comes to “developer-user” and they simply listen to the users wants/needs and that’s what matters at the end of the day. The end user your serving for.
However… Do agree on LA here:
Also maybe making Installing Updates a little faster? (Optimized:)).
But overall, Excellent work and Keep up the great work guys.
Can someone clear up the malicious entries? What are they doing?
Are those safe to delete?
I attached my results. I see an entry mentioning O&O Defrag. Does this harm proper functioning of this application?
Definitely, it is above-average product. Some promised features are missing (like defrag ) but it is not an issue and i hope to see them soon. I think that ‘program updates’ notification should contain a close button. Also, i want to emphasize that GUI is very nice and usable but kinda slow (sometimes, for example on resize it redraws unduly frequently).
I would ignore the "malicious " entries and in the future, if you continue using CSC, not even scan for them. deleting them will probably cause problems.
Be aware that the portable version isn’t really totally portable. It creates a CSC.ini file in the root of the C drive and Application DataComodoGroup and ComodoGroup directories in the Documents and Settings folder (WinXP). I feel that a truly portable app should run entirely out of its own directory.
Can anyone please explain the differences in wipe modes? Zero Fill, Random Character Fill, and Any Character Fill? Hell even US Gov Standard? Why can I select more than one mod when wiping? And does Ilterations mean the times a hd is wiped?
