COMODO System Cleaner 1.1.63928.28 BUG REPORTS [CLOSED]

Hi

Can you please tell us more details about this issue? What windows version do you have and what security software is installed. Describe what was happening before cleaning with CRC and after with the layout change. Thank you for your support.

I didn’t say that i do some cleaning. This behavior appears even if just run CRC without cleaning.
XP SP3+, full DEP. All CSC drivers uninstalled on disk and on reg (presicely prevented by HIPS on intallation) and turned in settings for all apps in pack.
The ctfmon just stop responding after CRC was run. Sypthoms: unable to change layout in GUI-based apps like notepad.exe, BUT(!) i am able to change layout in console (cmd.exe).
This behavior is weird.
I suppose the problem is in operations that CRC does on load or on unload. Maybe it’s rely on existing of drivers in system which are not. Maybe it does smth. else against the rules.

I tested a bit more and found where exactly this bug happens: it happens in CRC after you press SCAN and next you press CLEAN(!). It doesn’t matter what you clean either wrong extension or else. But(!) if you press CANCEL after SCAN this bug isn’t happening.
Then check code on button CLEAN. maybe you do some exclusive operations that can harm ctfmon…

No other programs are running at this time. CIS is the only icon in the system tray. I also ran this program in safe mode with the same result. Diagnostics showed all modules healthy.

Hi ,
Please post the backup reg file that is created at a clean process . This file can be found in Program Files\COMODO \System Cleaner\Backup directory . Thanks

you dont need this file cuz it’s not important for you. Suppose i clean nothing like empty extension. I doubt my file will differ from yours.
This with ctfmon happens every time crc run with scan and then clean.

Hi ,

The ctfmon could have stopped responding only if a registry key related with that program was deleted .Otherwise ,the problem isn’t caused by CRC . So is very important for us to check the registry backup file in order to find out what is going wrong . Thank you for your support.

Bug appear itself in between SCAN and results of scan. Previous statements on CANCEL don’t cause this was wrong.
Current possible cause - scanning process. It’s terrible. I ran RegMon ind found terrible amount of wrong rewuests to open wrong keys in HKCU basically. But i doubt it causes bug, there is something else that cause it. You do a lot of things inside that appear useless. Even 2 empty extensions are fixed with terrible amount of operations Open&Query&Close…others. Seems like you didn’t debug your code at all. Improve algo & find this annoyng bug or post code here and let users find it for you.

This has probably been mentioned before but the wiper does not wipe free space and the settings do not save…i.e. if i choose to overrite something 3 times then close the cleaner the next time i open it i have to choose those settings again…very annoying…as well having to open up each app in a new window is taxing.

UAC always asks for permission to run CSC when I try to start it. This happens on all 3 of our Vista computers (2 Ultimate and 1 Business).

Hi

Can you please post your windows nlited image that you are using on a file sharing server? Thanks.

Hi

Can you please post your windows nlited image that you are using on a file sharing server? We’ve tried all the versions available on the torrent sites and we couldn’t reproduced. Thanks for support.

Power clean my computer doesn’t remember privacy settings.

I unchecked media player history and media player playlist. When I run power clean my computer it clears every thing in my Windows media player.

  1. CPU Athlon 64 X2 4600+
  2. Windows XP pro, service pack 3, 32 bit
  3. CIS 3.8.64263.468
  4. Antivirus - default settings

Comodo System cleaner works well except that System Information will not open.
Keep getting the annoying ‘Why not tell Mr Gates about it!’ Microsoft pop up.
Tried reinstalling (using Revo to uninstall, for good measure!) but it still happens with reinstalled programme.
Any ideas?

Currently using Online Armor firewall, Eset Nod 32 AV and Winpatrol free version

I have a similar problem when clicking System Information in the Utilities tab. Comodo System Information stops working and 2 popups appear in succession. These are attached below.

  • Your Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
  • Security Software Installed; CIS, BOClean, SypwareBlaster, Super AntiSpyware, Malwarebytes AntiMalware
  • How you produced the problem: simply click on System Information in the Utilities tab
  • How you tried to resolve the problem: don’t click on System Information in the Utilities tab
  • Screen-shots with the error (if any): attached
  • Post Memory Dumps on crash if you encounter any: NA
  • All log files of CSC, if you had logs enabled: no information in CSC log for 2-19-09 when this occurred
  • Any other Additional Information: see statement in first paragraph

Edit:
I have redownloaded CSC, uninstalled it and reinstalled it in regular mode and in Safe Mode. For some reason, nothing works. System Information simply will not run without giving the two attached error messages. This only happens on my wife’s computer. System Information works just fine on my computer. The two computers are identical and configured exactly the same. I don’t know of any logs to post that would help with this problem.
