Comodo Internet Security v10.0.1.6209-Hotfix Released

Hi Xeno,
May you please provide snapshot of error?

Thanks
-umesh

I have problem with this version. CF does not work. I use CF on Custom ruleset and Comodo asks me only for few applications. For example for Firefox Yes, for Opera Not, FOr Outlook Not.

Can be it fixed somehow?

We had the discussion already in the previous topic where we had a discussion with umesh. It makes sense to have a topic merged to prevent fragmentation. This feedback is typical for the release topic; we had the discussion in the previous topic.

Thanks for the link to the (only 2 instead of 3 !!) offline installers. But at that location no checksums are provided as it was before (see my earlier post with subject "Re: No offline installers = bye bye Comodo CIS !"). With those checksums (of the offline-installers) we could (safely download older offline-installer versions from anywhere and) check them.
When downloading from a third party website check the digital signature of the file to know if the file is altered or not. That's what the digital signature is for.
So please give them again in the "Comodo Internet Security v10.0.1.6209-Hotfix Released" topic !!!
Futuretech added it to the topic start.
In the meanwhile I gave v10 a try (after an uninstall of v8) No good ! Tried it several times. The Removal tool not of a real help as it is only partly useable : the bat-file assumes installation at a "standard" location.
True but it will get rid off the drivers and services as their autostarts are stored in the registry. I admit it is not ideal it only assumes standard path (I install on a non standard path by default). Please make sure to start the batch files as administrator.
- The CAV signature update doesnt work at all due to the error : TASK Check for recognizer updates | STATUS An error occurred in the secure channel support No way to get it at work - The COMODO Security essentials isn't installed
The off line installer does not have Security Essentials.

Done.

So this latest major update finally brought CIS out of BETA stage I see; it finally works without forcing me to reinstall Windows. ;D
I was smarter this time: as a precaution I made a mirror copy of my hard drive before installing latest CIS. Luckily didn’t have to restore the drive.
(Does comodo lack Quality Assurance? Why don’t you properly mark your products as BETA if they are dangerous for everyday use? Unless you do want end users to be the QA as it’s cheaper and hurts company’s reputation too… which makes no sense… You can always make an announcement in forum for wanted people for BETA/RC testing…)

But, if there aren’t bugs, there will be annoyances: on my Win7, how do I turn off regeneration of CIS desktop icon? I cannot find the option to turn that off. :frowning:

Also, talking about offline installer: is it hard to program the installer/downloader with specific command line options, for e.g. /downloadall? Or actually commands for downloading specific components. Then command set for installing specific components. And then ofc a feature to check if valid setups are already present in current directory so download wouldn’t be needed? Etc? This would satisfy comodo team’s need to keep average users up to date, while allowing advanced users get hands on whole package. I want my full package and this is a great method and tell me ONE reason why not.

Unblock function - good idea. one glith - when there is more than one part of CIS blockin app, there is no option to do selective unlock (and permanent lock in others). ex. would like to unlock cointainment, but no networking. now have to unlock all, and then do manuall correction.

I found a way to gest rid of the CIS icon from desktop - changed attributes to read only and hidden. its still there, but does not come back to my eyesight  works just fine till some permanent solution

there is an error somehere in COMODO registry setting:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\COMODO\CIS
i copied all of it from different computer where there was no error. and it worked. dont know why on one computer the error ocurred and on the other did not. windows xp sp3 on both. i did over-install from the offline installer on one, and that could cause the problem.
but the fault is in the registry settings. nowhere else.

Update has been working for some days.
Now the same problem on my xp : can not update anymore !!
Fout: 0x80072f7d - An error occurred in the secure channel support
Red cross on every check ! See attach !

Need help !
How can i solve this ??
Remark: i can see that in my network :" comodo internet security firewall driver" is missing ??!! Is this in XP normal ??
Is this the problem ?? How to install it again ??

Shirka could you tell what registry key and what value is missing or attach the registry key here? Is your CIS installed on a default loaction?

Need help ! How can i solve this ?? Remark: i can see that in my network :" comodo internet security firewall driver" is missing ??!! Is this in XP normal ?? Is this the problem ?? How to install it again ??
That is not normal; it a critical error. With the packet filter driver missing the firewall cannot filter the traffic. It means you have no firewall.

You can use the Install option from the Properties screen from the properties of your network adapter. Choose to add a protocol → Have disk → Browse → navigate to the CIS installation folder → drivers → XP → choose inspect.inf. Then go through the motions; you most likely need to restart the computer in the process.

Did you do a clean or upgrade installation? Please consider reporting this as a bug following the bug report guidelines. This is a critical one.

Those who are using windows xp and can’t update try changing the update server setting to http://download.comodo.com/ see attached you can find this under general settings > updates > proxy and host settings.
Comodo Internet Security Software Updates, Download Software Updates | COMODO

Yes that is normal the firewall driver does not get listed in the network adapter properties on XP, the firewall driver is found in device manger under non-plug and play drivers when you select show hidden devices setting in device manager.

Also change your update settings

Hey futuretech:
Changing the update server was helpfull for me ! The AV database is up to date !
Thank you very much !

Are they working on a solution for this ??

Since it worked (the complete registry keys-branch copy) I did not investigate thoroughly - but yes - the solution given here is correct

original standard update serwer works just fine:
“UpdateURL”=“http://download.comodo.com/

and the one causing the problem was the new one (secured) being updated in some circumstances by the CIS-10 installer:
“UpdateURL”=“https://download.comodo.com/

 • so, the https serwer seems to be the root cause - some of our systems do not like it.

to all of you xp users!

 • to see the non plug and play devices in xp device manager one has to show them - check the option in the view menu. then the new set of devices is being shown. and there one can find comodo devices

did anyone experience new update-issue starting today? updating databases works fine, and when it comes to software update I get “need to restart your computer”. but after restart I get the same message over and over…

I’m a windows 10 user.
Does the sandbox work even on untrusted level using this CIS version? Or shuold I set it on “restricted”, like in the previous one?

not sure this is the place to ask, but here it is…

OK so when I reboot cold or hot, I’ve been getting this error popup, that comodo agent isn’t starting, says run a diagnostic, OK, so did it a few times and always says no problems found. I see that comodo is no longer in my task manager startup . (I think this is what the problem is,) I have no idea how it disappeared, or why, and I can’t seem to find a way in settings to add it back like a box to check to make it startup with windows like other programs have. I used to use msconfig, but now that just says to go to task manager startup. It will start back up if I click the program icon.

How can I re add the comodo agent to my startup?

btw: I did create a shortcut in my startup folder, this added the comodo icon back into the startup tab in task manager, but its not exactly the same as it was, before I didn’t need to do it that way. Seems there could be a box to check within the settings some place to re enable this thing.

WHen you get the message Comodo Agent is not running can you check with task manager if cmdagent.exe is running or not? It may be running even though CIS reports its not running. You may not need to run Diagnostics each time it happens; closing the dialogue may be enough.

There is a beta build in which this issue should be fixed that you could try: CIS Preview Build v6217.
