Hi Zee64,
Unfortunately remnants left behind with a high percentage of software is just another fact of life, that is why the number of removal tools created is so large.
You just have to take a look at the number of AV removal tools alone excluding all other software to see that it is a common issue. Uninstallers (removal tools) for common Windows antivirus software-Eset
Fortunately on most systems the remnants are benign, but on some systems issues may become evident or conflicts with other software may occur.
EDIT: OK, I see now that it’s enhanced protection mode that fouls up virtual machines and CPUz. Does disabling this limit your protection appreciably? What are the effects on sandboxed apps?
Nice one Melih. Only thing that is missing is a official and properly updated removal/uninstaller tool for CIS made by Comodo, updated to remove all CIS traces each and every time a new version is released (so we can upgrade to new CIS versions more easily) because the unofficial removal tools from the Forums are not doing the trick anymore.
Personally this would be a great addition, but what I do is use Revo Uninstaller Pro’s "trace installer’ feature where you run that feature and install a program. Once the program is finished installing you end the trace. What this does is make Revo detect every little thing that CIS creates and registry and in file and when you want to uninstall, it will remove every single one of these files.
Hi, I did a clean installation of the CIS last night, on the first try, an error occurred during installation and was canceled, I tried again and everything went normally. CIS updated and moved to the Proactive Defense, rebooted the computer and the CIS did not start with windows. Every time I have to open it manually, someone had the same problem?
It’s a known problem. Only the client program, cis.exe , and the widget when enabled are not starting. But the underwater processes are running keeping you protected. The autostart is in Task Scheduler.
Attached you will find an xml file you can import in Task Scheduler under Comodo. If you have installed CIS under a non standard path you need to edit the xml file accordingly. When the xml is loaded you will get a dialogue screen; make sure to set it for your Windows version.
The problem is that even with Revo Uninstaller Pro i had some problems during CIS installations/re-installations and also, all AV Companys provide a official and properly and regularly updated removal/uninstaller tool for their security products, Comodo should do the same in my opinion. Also not everyone has the money to pay for Revo Pro.
Uninstall/re-install issues appear to be system specific and not all that common compared to the number of users.
Most left overs are benign on the majority of systems.
I do not know why.
The same problem I have with Commodo 8beta in Windows 8.1 64 bit German.
When I go into the advanced settings → Antivirus → Exceptions - > Select: Add folder, I have in the next window only the desktop with its folders. I can not see or select drives or the pc (computer) itself!
the problem has nothing to do with the settings in the Folder View. Here I have already tried everything and it did not help.
I have another system with win7 and comodo cis 7x. Here it works fine.
I’d like to point out that Windows 10 TP has gotten a new build (9860) and updating to it will (at least did on my system) break CIS if it was installed prior to updating, by that I mean that the firewall got trashed and diagnostics weren’t able to fix it. So if anyone here is using Windows 10 TP as their main OS, I suggest you uninstall CIS before updating to the new build and then install CIS after you’ve finished updating in order to avoid any potential issues.
I tried switching to the German interface but I can choose folders everywhere on the computer. I am on Win 8.1.1 x64. Try running diagnostics and whether a clean install solves it or not (we might be looking at a bug).
Are you running beta 1 or beta2? I am going to merge this with the beta releases topic.
Could others check if the problem of wechselberger reproduces with them or not?
