COMODO Internet Security 3.9.74913.496 RC1 Bug Reports - LOCKED

Analizing and defragmenting with windows vista tools is very slow with AV installed. To analize a 320GB hdd it’s take over 10 minutes . If i reinstall CIS without AV, everything is done in 2or 3 minutes.

Chkdsk problem stilll occurs in .494 - some additions to the comments of others:

  1. Steps to replicate. Commands to schedule a boot disk check are:
  • at command line chkdsk /f
  • then answer Y when prompted
  • reboot should give disk check - takes several minutes on my machine
  1. Problem does not occur unless I import 3.8 settings file, or manually set similar settings in 3.9. (IE with the installled settings and no mods at all chkdsk runs). But there is absolutely nothing in settings file that should cause the problem.

  2. Work around is to boot in safe mode after scheduling disk check. It seems as if boot hangs, but actually disk check is occurring without telling you. After check, computer re-boots into normal mode automatically.

Still occurs in .494. But note there is a version of framework.dll that resolves this: 3.9.7404.488

CFP crash while XP loading desktop. CFP says CIS encountered an error and needs to close.

  1. Your Operating System: XP SP3 32bit
  2. Other Security and Utility Software Installed: CIS, CVE, CIV, CLP, Filezilla, Walllwatcher, Sony Ericsson PC software, Actual Window Manager, Routerstats.
  3. Step by step description to reproduce the issue: While XP loading desktop receive AV real time alert, choose to move item to My Safe Files. If done after desktop loaded appears to temporarily freeze system. (IE exact replication not possible, but some problem likely to occur when I carry out these steps).
  4. How you tried to resolve the problem:
  5. Upload Memory Dumps on crash if you encounter any: None recorded, frustratingly.
  6. Attach screenshots to your posts to clarify the issue further:
  7. Any other information you think that might be useful: CFP settings NOT imported from cfg file - set manually.

Filezilla Server error on shutting down machine

  1. Your Operating System: XP SP3 32bit
  2. Other Security and Utility Software Installed: CIS, CVE, CIV, CLP, Filezilla, Walllwatcher, Sony Ericsson PC software, Actual Window Manager, Routerstats.
  3. Step by step description to reproduce the issue: Sometimes when you close down the machine with CIS installed, get dialogue box briefly flashes up saying: ‘The instruction at 0x0013dd50 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read’. Does not seem to happen when CIS not installed. However not sure this is a CIS bug. Filezilla server is an open source FTP server.
  4. How you tried to resolve the problem: Tried listing Filezilla as a D+ trusted application, & excluding from BO detection.
  5. Upload Memory Dumps on crash if you encounter any: NA
  6. Attach screenshots to your posts to clarify the issue further: occurs on shutdown so cannot ‘grab’
  7. Any other information you think that might be useful: Same error sometimes occurs with PSI_Service.exe, an DRM component associated with Corel Draw.

Just upgraded to .494.
Noticed a small bug.
If you go to misc. and click about to check the version running, there is no way to shut that screen off.
I had to exit CIS and then retart it to get out of that screen.

There was some typos in finnish translation. I fixed them and posted new version of files here

WinXP 32 bit SP3 all patches.

I click on Summary->Proactive Defense->Switch to Installation Mode.
After some seconds reminder pop up and click on YES but CIS does not changing from Switch to Previous Mode to Switch to Installation Mode in Summary->Proactive Defense window.
which mode is active?
Pls. check.

Analizing is very slow :o

os - xp sp3 32bit

1. Operating System (32 or 64 bit) and Service Pack revision: WinXP-SP3-PRO BR 32bits

2. Other Security and Utility Software Installed:
a) running: Peerguardian v2 RC1 test2-2
b) NOT running: SAS, MBAM (all real-time devices NOT running)

3. Step by step description to reproduce the issue:
a) Boot, logon and do a DB manual update (this was around 09:35AM - without pic)
b) After 15 minutes, do another manual update (first screen shot - time and date is there). After update, do “netstat”. You will see 4 connections in CLOSE_WAIT, from the 6 made by the 2 updates. See pic #1:

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/8601/cisclosewaitstate1.th.png

c) With the computer in total idle state (untouched), wait 15 minutes and do “netstat” again. You will see that 2 connections still are in CLOSE_WAIT. CIS didn’t do any automatic update/connection. See pic #2:

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9258/cisclosewaitstate2.th.png

d) Wait more 15 minutes and do step c) again. Those connections still persists. Again, nothing was touched, CIS was “idle” while waiting. See pic #3:

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/6489/cisclosewaitstate3.th.png

e) CIS settings are to do NOT any automatic update, nor any connections (TC is disabled, to not submit files, etc). CIS did not make any connection while this time, no internet was in use at all and no other app was launched except “Paint” (with previous rules done). These 2 connections seems to stay “forever” in that state (30 min in the pics, and they still are while I’m writing this)

4. How to resolve the problem: Reboot, logoff or shutdown CIS for some time.

5. Upload Memory Dumps on crash if any: NA

9. Any other information that might be useful: SAS, MBAM, Tbird, uT, don’t behave like this in this same PC. NIC’s used to test (did this twice): Realtek RTL8139/810 and/or 3COM 3C905M-TX with (most) recent drivers. Cable Modem Motorola SurfBoard SBV5120, PPPoA. PG2 isn’t blocking these connections.

I know this annoyance MAY not be harmfull, but CIS has to be an example in communication…

I HAVE TO SAY: VERY GOOD IMPROVEMENTS IN v494-B3 !

  • C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! -

For those who are with CHKDSK issues, give a try:

  1. exclude in both “Shell Code Injections” and “AV”: chkdsk.exe + chkntfs.exe + autochk.exe (with valid path, of course)

  2. Add these three “.exe” in “Windows System Applications” Group, in D+ -->My Protected Files–>Groups and check for “Windows System App” rights for this group (should be already there)

These worked for me. :-TU

why I have no alerte with Firewall? (in Personnal startegie mode)

os: XP64

For those who are with defrag and/or PerfectDisk and/or PageDefrag issues:

  1. Create a New Group in D+ -->My Protected Files–>Groups, with:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfrg*
C:\Program Files\Raxco\PerfectDisk2008*
C:\WINDOWS\system32\PDBoot*
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Raxco*
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\DefragFS.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pgdfgsvc.exe
(OF COURSE, CHECK FOR THE CORRECT PATH)

  1. Include this group in D+ -->Computer Security Policy and give “Windows System Application” rights.

  2. Include this group in D+ -->Image Execution Control Settings–>Exclusions

  3. Include this group in AV–>Scanner Settings–>Exclusions

;D ;D ;D :-TU :-TU :-TU

edit: one more “last” possibility is: exclude cavscan.exe at Windows DEP.

Same issue, XP SP3.

Vista64 Ultimate. Traffic area is empty but if I click somewhere in that red box I have a popup with active connections. ???
No other security programs running. Just CIS, RivaTuner, YM!, Halite and Everest.

The same here (vista 64 ultimate)

OK, mine is back now.

This previously has been due to a faulty install. make sure no other AV is active when installing CIS.
Try rebooting your computer. If that doesn’t restore the display, do the following:
Uninstall CIS, clean your registry, reboot and do a clean install. This should correct the problem for you.

I’ve managed to find out what the problem is. It is crashing when scanning the stored thumbnails data for Windows Vistas, Windows Photo Gallery (NOT WINDOWS LIVE PHOTO GALLERY  )

Still no Crash Dumps so I hope this helps.

please, how to??
