COMODO Internet Security 3.5 BETA Feedback [CLOSED]

While scanning my system, CIS finds something like that “Worm.Win32.Wukill.B@34872” in a folder with an .avi file I have scanned with Avira before and it found nothing. I search the Internet and found nothing about it. Could it be a false positive?

Hello. Well, I was warned not to do it, but I have. I’ve downloaded Comodo Security 3.5 Beta. I just couldn’t wait any longer, I’m not a beta tester as such, but I want to test it, so on my own head it must be if anything happens to my system. So far so good, no problems at all, but there again, I’m not looking for any, I’ll leave that to the real testers. I will keep in touch.
Paul.

Alright
I installed the CIS and I ran it without any problems.
I use Windows XP Pro with 2.14 ghz.1GB of ram.
The only complaints I have so far is that browsing with CIS running is a bit sluggish and the virus scan takes for ever.
And after scanning,I also have the memory issue.
Will next week’s update be patch or a brand new download/install?

All the systems with CIS had a problem yesterday.

Sunday is the default date for the automated full system scan.

I turned on the pc’s and cmdagent.exe instantly started using 100% CPU, memory usage was between 400kb and 25000kb.

After about 2 hours i resetted one of the pc’s, after it booten everything was normal again.

The only complaints I have so far is that browsing with CIS running is a bit sluggish and the virus scan takes for ever. And after scanning,I also have the memory issue.

I noticed that defragmenting (with AusLogics Disk Defrag, free 1.4) seemed to take much longer than usual, so I figured it might have something to do with CIS. After disabeling real-time/on access AV protection the defrag went back to normal speed.

This seemed a bit odd, and I thought of the memory leak (?) while virus scanning in CIS. So I tried starting a scan with on access AV disabled, and it turns out cmdagent.exe used significantly less memory than during a scan with on access enabled.

I don’t know if it was just accidental. Are you able to reproduce this behaviour (given that you had memory problems while scanning in the first place)? Is there a possible conflict between on access and on demand?

During a CIS scan, the scanner stopped working and I got a Windows popup message. I attached a screenshot of the popup and the scanner interface when it was frozen up. The CIS scanner was scanning within Program Files/Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 7\Wcsdata\Bullet\Realistic_4/5.wcs. The Ulead PhotoImpact 7 program will run under Windows Vista, but it was really designed for Windows XP. I don’t know if this is what caused the scanner to freeze or not. ???

CPU 32 bit
Vista SP1
CMF, BOClean, and SpywareBlaster
CIS scanner stopped working
I had to reboot the computer to resolve the problem
I am using an Administrator account. UAC is Enabled.

I had similar problem today, when I switched my computer on, and without any scanning. I had to restart it to make it behave normally…

I scanned with Spybot pretty quick after I installed CIS and found that it took longer to scan.

I have seen reports here where people commented on the memory use when scanning. It is already under scrutiny from the devvers I understood

As I reported in the bug topic CIS makes a hog of every disk utility including itself. I’m sure it can be great but for today it’s Kaspersky or even Norton. :stuck_out_tongue:

As the DEF+ increases to Paranoid Mode in CIS-BETA, Memory Usage increases dramatically

In Paranoid Mode All boxes Ticked and All Applications extra entries cleared no problems on XP.
Only during scans do I have high memory usage.

Well the install was a bitch on my test PC running XP SP3 (the last of the pre-release versions), with Merak Mail Server, Home FTP server and Abysswes Web Server, Fortech Proxy+, Proxomitron, Hostman and Server, Nero 8, PrevxCSI, Superantispyware, teatimer, Tren Mincro RUbotted, MBM5, Speedfan, Xeather Watcher. CMF, CDS, CBO, IOBit SmartDefrag, Spyware Guard, DynDNS. Treewalk DNS server, Linksys Easylink, Logitech Webcam and Keyboard, Sidewinder Game Controller, Unlocker, Eraser and possibly a couple of others I’ve missed. So I disabled all the security software and still the same problem. Disabled everything else but MBM5, Speedfan and CDS and tried again with the same results.

Each time the PC hung at the same point in the install with the create config process hammering the CPU to death. All options in the install were ticked and the point it froze was with the Toolbar install with approx 4 bars to go. Killing the process in the task manager enabled the install to complete.

All seems to work now although I did have one unexplained system restart during the night after installing CIS which may or may not be related.

Minor annoyance so far is the Scan window and subsequently the main CIS window being so closely tied so that bringing up the scan window from being minimized means that the others are also brought up, also closing the main CIS window means that the Scan one is brought to the front.

A suggestion also might be that when a new predefined Firewall Policy is created that by default entries for loopback , dns and block and log are already created leaving the user to add or remove as needed.

Looking good so far though :SMLR

Can you please chek if you have a crash dump in your CIS instalaltion folder? cmdagent.zip would be the file we are looking for. If you can post that file here, i would appreciate.
