COMODO Internet Security 3.5 BETA Bug Reports [CLOSED]

Every scan, memory usage, etc. is functioning perfectly here on mine. No bugs showing up as of yet. Scans are smooth, starts/stops when requested, even resumes properly.
I have scheduled a full scan for later. I will see how that one is handled.
Updates seem to be working properly as well…

What can I say at this time? Congrats to the CIS team on a great product.

The same problem during the scan. over 300Mo.

Windows XP SP2

Cordialement.

Installed in a work prodution machine???

There is a scanner setting to not automatically delete/remove any threats found during a scan.
Just uncheck the auto remove threats found option.

Folks:

Please report bugs according to the 7 items as best as possible. Doesn’t matter if you have to repeat some of the info on each post - it just makes it clearer/more organized for the devs.

Thanks.

When I start up my computer CIS forces me to log on to the internet. I have disabled any options that may require an internet connection such as auto update, ect. Its really annoying since it has absolutely no business going online. I had each individual program installed prior to CIS and as long as the auto update features were disabled it would not attempt to connect. It only started once I removed CAVS/CFP and installed CIS.

1 Win XP home 32 bit SP2
2 CIS, comodo memory firewall, Boclean 4.27
3 Turn on computer
4. disabling any and all auto update or any option that may even remotely require the internet
5. N/A
6. N/A
7. N/A

Ok it is probably related to archive files. Can you guys please set Antivirus->Scanner settings->do not scan files larger than option to 10 to see if it is still the case?

Thanks, missed that setting.

FYI, I am testing on a throw_away image,!! relax !!, anyone testing a BETA should use extreme caution !!.

Test System:
Intel: 440BX mobo, P600mhz, 768mb ram
Image: XPsp3(fully patched, 09-08)
Clean image, no other security apps, ever installed.
Resident apps:
CLI .exe(vidio card)
tbctray.exe (sound card)
FireFox.exe(3.0.1)

Edit: Still, Comodo needs to be very carefull of auto_delete, default settings.

Hello I did as you have said.

What happens is CIS starts up with around 24mb how ever If I wait for about 5-10 mins everything is settled.
Everything is then normal for on access and manual scanning, This is regardless whether I change different settings.

Are there any actions that CIS performs at the start-up? Like an update, start up file scan…etc? I tried disabling memory scanning and archives, update etc… Everything is just the same.

EDIT:: After I change settings I restart the computer just to be sure.

Miscellaneous > Settings > Logging (tab)
Checking “Disable AntiVirus Logging” doesn’t stay checked and the logging continues.
No problem with the other two: Disable Firewall Logging and Disable Defense+ Logging

CIS_Setup_3.5.50676.393_XP_Vista_x64_BETA

using win vista x64 sp1 w/ winpatrol (ON), avast (internet mail, p2p shield, instant messaging ON), avira free (guard OFF), malwarebytes (OFF) & spywareterminator (realtime guard OFF)

test system: intel c2d e7200 [ at ] 3.0GHz, 4 GB ddr2 800, ECS G31T-M, 2x250GB SATA’s, Optical RAM/ROM drives

the bug

  1. can’t import recently saved configuration (from uninstalled CFP 3.xx - the latest) in administrator mode under vista x64 using manage settings tab. solution: boot in safe mode to import saved configuration (from uninstalled CFP 3.xx - the latest)…
  2. toggling configuration using CIS icon (from default internet security to saved and imported configuration from CFP v3), a crash occured. rebooted several times, then the bug disappeared as of now (can toggle along with the configuration w/o crashing).

the good

  1. AV scanning yields only 46,800K on task manager (cmdagent.exe), currently scanning w/ default AV settings
  2. ran CIS update/s; no crash occured
  3. no crash/freeze/slow downs at boot-up
  4. in relation to item #2 (the bug),the good thing after the crash, cmd agent is still functioning, although the icon was forced to closed at the notification area (i guess, i’m still protected in a way by the firewall & av)

update:

after 40+min of AV scanning, cmdagent mem usage ballooned unto 400,000+k (although still tolerable for my test rig), still on AV’s default setting. i guess, archives scan (decompress process) is in effect (as stated on earlier posts). by the way, page file is OFF on all drives. gonna test later-on on a limited mems (512MB - XP sp2 & 3), w/ system managed paging file.

I had a problem while installing on Vista, 32 bit, CIS, SuperAntiSpy, Malwarebytes. I installed without being connected to the Internet. During reboot I reconnected the Internet, attempted to manually update CAVS, and CIS and my computer locked up. I rebooted and retried with same result. I did a clean uninstall, then reinstalled CIS. This time after the first reboot I left the thing alone to do its thing. After a while a balloon in the taskbar popped up saying that CIS had automatically updated. It seems when an auto update is happening attempting a manual update will lock up the computer. Simple enough, but there is no clear indication that an auto update is going on. Otherwise, CIS is running fine now.

cmdagent.exe does not appear in the task manager’s processes list. only cfp.exe appears. I went to the program folder and executed it but nothing seemed to have happened. Went to the task manager and found out that it wasn’t there. I went to taskmanager’s file menu and browsed for cmdagent.exe and selected it. cmdagent did appear in the processes list but after about 15 seconds disappears. I happened to go to the services tab and this it is. But I was expecting it to be in the processes list as I see that most people are talking about seeing considerable memory usage but I am not able to.

Despite this the cavs3 seems to be working. I downloaded the EICAR test virus, first as the double level zip file. It was able to be downloaded (sort of expected cavs3 to tell me something about this as i’ve experienced windows defender recognizing when the eicar test virus is in this zip file when I just download it without even trying to open the zip file). I also expected to see some sort of “scan this file” option in the right click menu. However when I download the EICAR.com file CAVS3 does give me a warning even before I try to accept the download. This was sweet.

The whole right click menu was what made me go an look in processes. Don’t know if this is something already implemented but is not working on my particular system.

  1. Vista SP1 x64
  2. Clean install just CIS
  3. Everytime i start my pc
  4. Tried running with new task from task manager file menu
  5. Noob… explain to me where I can get those I know windows has an option somewhere I think in the task manager but would not know.

^try clicking show processes from all users (windows task manager)… you’ll find cmd agent…
