The icon is legacy from v6914 it’s only an esthetic minor bug and it might be related to the Device Control (maybe ?)
I don’t know about other AV since some years ago, and i might wrongly presume that other AV do indeed disable the Microsoft own “security protection” like defender and even firewall and i don’t think Microsoft$ allowed or like that so easy…
And just maybe COMODO, it’s actual security suite operates along with Microsoft Firewall as disabling Microsoft Firewall has negative consequences to the OS itself, so a very smart move from COMODO security suite was to operate along but not with Microsoft Firewall.
In other words COMODO is letting the MS must carry package Firewall to do it’s magic (assure that some vital OS function works) and that’s it !
So to have peace of mind just now that COMODO is indeed the main Firewall!
Hate to break it to you but those are Windows issues, once you install on a new Windows install, you won’t get those problems. I had experienced the missing icon when show traffic animation was disabled or I didn’t install the firewall when I was on 1903, after I did a fresh install of 1909, the icon always loaded even now without traffic animation being enabled in the firewall settings. Same for security center integration, Windows for some reason won’t always get the status from Comodo on system startup, when I reformatted to install the 1909 build, I haven’t had warnings from security center since.
For those who have Windows Defender alongside CIS or CAV reset the Security Center. This will fix the registration of CIS or any other security program with Windows Security Center in most cases. Registration of security programs with Security Center has always been a bit flakey and also happens with other security.
How to reset the Security Center
Open a command prompt by typing cmd in the search field of Windows start menu. It will show Command Prompt. Click right on it to run as administrator
In the command prompt window, type NET STOP WINMGMT /Y and press ENTER.
Type REN %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\WBEM\REPOSITORY REP.OLD and press ENTER.
Type EXIT and press ENTER to close the window.
Restart the system. Windows should start normally. If the registration with Security Center is not successful after the reboot reboot once more. In a small minority of cases you may be prompted to restart the system a second time to complete the changes caused by resetting the core repository.
Comodo does not use the package filter facility of Windows Firewall but uses its own driver (inspect.sys which shows up as Comodo Internet Security Firewall Driver in the Properties of your network adapter. See attached image. Disabling Windows Firewall has no negative consequences for the OS when you have CIS or other firewall installed.
You can disable Windows Firewall yourself as Microsoft does no longer allow security programs to disable Windows Firewall. However we advice to keep Windows Defender Firewall service running because CIS relies on it with regard to sharing over the local network.
If the Security Center sees another AV program is installed it will disable Windows Defender.
I think it’s up to you. On my PC 7036 is running without problems. On the other hand, comodo staff needs experience of users to improve their software.
@cruelsister Thanks for sharing the Best Practice.
When the new build is pushed out does that also mean that there will be a new offline installer for Comodo Internet Security Premium (an update to “cispremium_only_installer_130721_e0.exe” as given in this thread start)?
As I understand “cispremium_only_installer_130721_e0.exe” is in fact equal to v12.2.2.7036 RC from the BETA section and cannot be used for offline updating older versions.
I will give v12.2.2.7036 certainly a try.
When? Depends a bit if “cispremium_only_installer_130721_e0.exe” is going to be updated in the next few weeks when the new build is pushed out.
When does the Comodo team make the new version available also on the website which is the official repository for new users who want to download and install it?
I think it’s time to remove the 6914 version with the bugs.
Thank you for the link you gave me, I will use this for free CIS.
However I hope that Comodo will also update the new version in the official web links and optimize all the links by reorganizing them into one, there is always a lot of confusion on the website, in my opinion.
