My system running CIS 6862 had a BSOD and created a minidump and a full dump file. BlueScreenView states the following:

062919-32125-01.dmp	29-6-2019 02:00:00	MEMORY_MANAGEMENT	0x0000001a	00000000`00000403	fffffa00`a9822670	86000000`365c9867	fffffa2b`2cc7efa0	ntoskrnl.exe	ntoskrnl.exe+1b3ef0	NT Kernel & System	Microsoft® Windows® Operating System	Microsoft Corporation	10.0.17763.557 (WinBuild.160101.0800)	x64	ntoskrnl.exe+1b3ef0 C:\Windows\Minidump\062919-32125-01.dmp	4	15	17763	537.516	29-6-2019 02:02:53

It does not suggest CIS is involved. In case you guys would like to see the mini or full dump file let me know.

comodo internet security 12.x.x. 6862 constant disk reading, anyone else with this problem?

Does Resource Monitor give us clues? Did you check with CIS task manager if there was a task running?

Hi All,

I’ve updated the existing post to reflect the very minor update to build 6862.

After 10+ years, still the eject of usb drives is blocked by Comodo cmdagent (if the usb drive is ON when the pc is booted).

There is no hope in fixing this i guess.

Pitty.

(please do not tell me that this is the 1st time you read or hear this)

Thank you Shane.

Could you please make screenshot of Resource monitor with disk usage, to identify what CIS process uses disk and what files?
Also, could you please collect memory dump from the process which uses disk constantly? - We can check what threads are performed in current moment.
Please pay attention the CIS processes can be protected from collecting of memory dump by HIPS module.

after a system reinstallation, the disk consumption or read has stopped.
Apparently everything normal with cis now.

Hi

I’ve tried the recent 6862 online installer now on 2 Windows 10 PCs (both at x64, build 18362.207), having set up the hosts file etc before hand
.
In both cases, the upgrade began, then did phase 1 of the upgrade (backing up settings etc before uninstalling the old build), and rebooted OK.
But at installation phase 2 (where it normally installs the new build and migrates settings etc. and does an initial scan before a final reboot), the installer started running (after the UAC prompt), but then showed a red message box with the following text.

“Failed to initialize installer. Stored data format is invalid.”

And exitted the installer, which left CIS uninstalled :frowning:

In both cases I could manually complete the installation by then re-running the installer again, which succeeded without a message, and restoring the settings that I’d saved manually before the upgrade (just in case of problems!), but this is disappointing.

I noticed there was bundled ware (Winzip driver updater) - is this the stored data it was looking for?

CIS 6862 itself seems ok now I’m running it - but the upgrade crashing out and failing on 2 out of 2 test pcs is disappointing.

Is anyone else seeing this?
Mike

I did a clean install with 6862 but didn’t get Winzip driver updater nor was it in the choice screen. Unless they updated the installer once more I doubt it was CIS that installed Winzip driver updater. :-\

Same here . . . I installed as an update to 6850 on 1 system and clean install on another 2 . . . never saw anything to do with Winzip and no problems with any of them Win10 and 7
That was on June 27th
